There should be an idle adjustment located behind one of the side fairings, its usually a black dial mounted to the case somewhere low.

SOURCE: 93 Suzuki Katana GSX 600 fuel issues?

You need to check and see if you are getting fuel from the tank into your carbs, if you pull the line that feeds the petcock valve off the top gas should come out. If it doesnt there is a clog in your tank. Now pull the line off the bottom of the petcock valve (this feeds your carbs) and make sure you have fuel at all setting of the petcock valve except for off. If you dont then you probably have a bad petcock valve. If you are getting fuel from the petcock vavle into you carbs then there is a problem with your carbs.

If you take the fuel bowl drain screw out of the carb (located on the bottom). Gas should run out of the associated carb, if it doesn't, then you have something stuck in the carb and one carb not working correctly can make the bike not run. If you find this to be the problem get a can of carb cleaner, take the fuel bowl drain screw out and let the gas run out, stick the red spray wand from the can of cleaner into the hole and flush your carbs out really good.

Then give it a try. Make sure that the connection between your carbs and head is tight while you are there. If that does not fix your problem you may ahve to pull the carbs and take a closer look.

My bike smells like gas when turned on. it also takes time to stay on in the mornings when first starting it.ive also had turn off on me while riding.any help for my 2001 katana 600

Sounds like the floats in the carburettors are either sticking or their heights need to be adjusted.
They basically let the fuel into the carb bowls to a certain level & shut the fuel once they're full. Yours sound like they're letting in too much fuel.
It's a job for a bike mechanic & somebody who knows what they're doing.

Hi mody
check fuel flow from tank by sucking vacuum hose if fuel runs through if not inspect tap. but if yes pull out carbs and check float needle housing strainer. if is free from particles replace ignition coils and pulse generator.

I have diagnosed the problem and think the fuel pump is broken

loose wires seem to be a big thing with these bikes wiring diagrames is available online try google images if i get chance il add a link later

as for fuel problem turn the fuel tap to 3 oclock position prime constant fuel feed if you get it running this way turn tap on position down

most people including myself have had problems with bike only running on 2 cylinders usually 1 + 4 ive cleaned the carbs fully and replaced coils and leads + plugs also cleaned every connection and made them tighter with pliers etc to all wires under the tank as on my bike was all gummed up oil + corrosion etc bike now runs alot better
