Question about Motorcycles

1 Answer

I have a 2006 Harley Sportster 1200 Low. I went down on the bike and now the gears aren't catching. When I picked the bike up it was in 5th gear and barely moved when I pulled the throttle. It shifts through all the gears, but won't move. What could be the problem??

Most likely the clutch is not engaging. or the power transfer from the engine to the gearbox has been disrupted. The gear lever may have been pushed into the engine and so become detached from the gearbox.

My 06 harley sportster shifts up and now is stuck in 5th gear because it won't shift back down, the shifter moves freely going down, but won't change gears

My Harley 883 Sportster suddenly became stuck in 5th gear.

More than likely the shifter pawl has broken. Breaking in 5th gear is kind of unusual however, they usually break between first and second.

You'll have to remove the outer primary cover to look at the shifter pawl. It's partially covered by the clutch assembly.
