Question about Yamaha YZF-R6 Motorcycles
Hey guys, I have a 08-R6 with 12000km it lags on the take off and misses so bad... even dies on me if i wont double or triple clutch it. but once i go on higher gears it all works fine. its almost as if your trying to take off on the 4-5th gear to give you a feel of how bad it is.. I,m confused if it is a gear box problem or a clutch problem. further more it sounds preety rough as well with this klacking noise.
Klacking noise? Any sort of mechanical metal to metal noise is no good. If the engine pulls fine once your in higher gears with no noise I would think that it is transmission/gear issues and not engine(piston/rod) issues. If the bike gets abused or stunted chances are the first couple of gears are bad.

I would be more concerned with the stuck gear than the clutch, but we will start with the clutch.
The push cam may be bent or deformed and the push shaft may be bent. Assuming the ball bearing is in place, the cam and rod are all that can really go wrong. The rod slides out of the left center case. You will need to loosen the springs to get the left side cover back in place. Roll the rod on a flat surface to see if it is bent. I fear a bent shift fork is causing the gearbox to be stuck in third. Fix the clutch and then post a comment to get back to me.

It sounds like the primary drive chain is loose. The way I adjust mine is to take off the upper left inspection cover, start the bike and slowly tighten the adjuster until it starts to wine, then back off until it stops. Rev it slowly and listen for a wine. No wine good to go.

gear selector may be jammed inside the casing or broken
check that the shifter is tight on the shaft!
check clutch adjustment
try rocking bike back n forth without using clutch while you try ******* the gear lever it may come unstuck
but get it looked at if it frees up!
