SOURCE: when I start the bike it shows the ABS warning

ABS on this bike is controlled by a ECU that can not function until you have primed the system. By rotating the front wheel the system is started. Some ECU's will require a longer start, ie, 10/30 revolutions. This means you only have "full" braking power after this point. A masterly lack of foresight on BMW's part is where a rider may start on a hill and use the combined brake system before it is primed, it can only be primed in an unbraked rotation. the result-no brakes to speak of! BEWARE!!!!

SOURCE: ABS warning light until bike is put in gear and

Yes, that is completely normal. The ABS does a self test and extinguishes the light when it sees wheel speed information from both front and rear wheels.

Nothing to worry about unless the light fails to go off.

Happy riding.

No start 09 Ultra Classic Electra Glide

Sounds like your charging system is not charging the battery.

Put a volt meter on the battery, run the engine up to maybe 2,000 RPM. The voltage must be at least 13.8V, but not more than 14.5.

If that is all OK, your battery is worn out, and is not holding sufficient reserve. It would need to be replaced.

Im buying a cbf and the abs light does not go off till you set off. it then stays off until you start it again. is this normal

It is quite common for ABS systems on motorbikes to do this.

Basically, the warning light stays on until there have been a couple of revolutions of the wheels to confirm that signals are actually being received from the wheel sensors. When these are received the light goes out, signalling that everything is ok.

As long as the light does not come back on again during normal riding, then there is no reason to suspect a fault with the system.

This is slightly different from the system used on cars. I can only imagine that because the wheel sensors are more exposed to the elements and therefore more likely to fail, bike systems include this additional check.

From what you describe, everything is working normally.

Hope this helps,

Matt

Switch abs on or off how do i know it is on or off

When the bike first starts the ABS circuitry is tested and the light should go out within a few seconds. The ABS can not be turned off while the bike is in motion, you must come to a stop for that. Consult your owner's manual for the specific procedure for deactivating the ABS. Once it is deactivated your light will flash very slowly until the system is reactivated or the bike is turned off.

ABS light blinking at idle

It's supposed to blink until you drive off for first time after starting the bike, it's a safety measure to ensure that the system is ok (it makes sure you know that it is there!) . If it keeps on flashing while you're riding you have a problem, but if the light goes out at about 5mph the ABS is fine. You can still ride it if the lights are flashing, you'll just not have ABS, just "normal" brakes

Abs light flashing alternatively when putting ignition on

There is a simple way to fix it as I've discovered. Start your bike, if lights are flashing ride for a mile or two applying the rear brake a few times. Stop the bike and place on centre stand. switch off motor then restart. Your flashing lights should have gone. Why the flashing happens is if you ride and use your rear brake rarely and then your bike sits for a day or two without use your rear brake assembly fully retracts, ie pads away from disc and ABS gizzmos inactive. The ABS sensor unit then reports extended non use pattern to the onboard 'brain' which activates the warning mode of flashing lights. This has worked for me several times over the last 5 years when its occured. Full ABS operations return. Tried it on a mates bike and it fixed same problem on his.
