The owner's manual describes how to remove the passenger seat, - even though that's [pretty intuitive, - but there's no description provided for the removal of the rider's seat.

There are nice adjustable levers avaliable at your Ducati store. A good thing if you have smaller hands. Doesn't cure the sudden engagement, but maybe makes it easier to control.

1st take the backrest off if you have one then take the back bolt out of passenger seat should be a 10mm bolt then take the strap off that is between the two seats should be a 6mm allen screw, then then pull passenger seat off then take the passenger housing mount off 2 10mm bolts then you have got one more 10mm bolt that takes the drivers seat off take taht bolt out and lift seat off.

the tab is part of the unit that holds the hold-on-strap to the bike. the two bolts used go through the hold-on-strap unit then into two holes at the rear of the front seat.
as for where you can get them..... dealer or scrap yard.
hope this helps.
