Starts but stalls right away

I just changed my gas tank, fuel pump and filter. I got in my jeep after this and pulled it ahead, was running fine , I left it idle and warm up for a bit then suddenly stalled. I got in it to start again and it fired up but stalls right away. After it stalls i hear the fuel pump re prime. I started it back up and tried reving it , the only way to keep it running is to stay above 4000rpm and feather slightly. Any suggestions im stumped. thx

Have you checked your fuel pressure? Could be the fuel pressure regulator. Hard to say without a year and model of the jeep.

Does it only seem to stall once it's warmed up? You mentioned that it ran fine for a little bit.

SOURCE: stalls or just wont start

i've had a bunch of hondas and usually when they dont start and then start after a while it is the main relay. as far as i know they dont make them aftermarket, you need to get them from the dealer. they cost about $85 last time i bought one. it is located on the interior, drivers side, to the left of the pedals. i think it has 7 pins and is mounted by one 10mm bolt. it seems they act up mostly on hot days. good luck!

SOURCE: wont keep idle, car stalls out

I had this same problem on my 2005 monte carlo, took mechanic a while to figure out it was the idle air control valve. They also replace the idle air control motor.

Check for vacuum leaks. Also try cleaning the ISV.

SOURCE: motor stalls when driving then starts and stalls right away.

Replace the distributor's magnetic pickup located inside the distributor surrounding the distributor shaft, the only other thing thankfully on this ignition system if memory serves me on the f 150 straight six 300 cu inch is the dura spark ignition control box, of course do the obvious tune up parts replacement dist.cap rotor, plug , sparkplugs before spending the $40.00 - $50.00 bucks on the dist.. pick up, you may have a weak a fuel pump check for adequate fuel pressure at carb 7 - 10 lbs.

Im at a loss for what it could be ??????? That's understandable when you have no clue as how thing's work on a modern automobile . checked the fuel filter and fuel pump ???? How ? Fuel pump pressure an flow test . Voltage drop test the electrical circuit .

Did you hook up a scan tool ? Not a code reader ! Check scan data ? What are the fuel trims at ? adding fuel taking fuel away ? Are the O2 sensors switching like thier suppose to ?

Evap emissions system testing , stuck open purge solenoid . Over filled fuel tank . Do you top off the tank ? Or when fuel pump clicks off do you stop ? Loaded up the charcoal canister .
The Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP) is used to prevent gasoline vapors from escaping into the atmosphere from the fuel tank and fuel system. The EVAP system usually requires no maintenance, but faults can turn on the Check Engine light and prevent a vehicle from passing an OBD II plug-in emissions test.

When i've been driving for a while, it stalls out and won't start-acting like it's starving for fuel. after it sits and cools down for a couple of hours then it starts and runs fine. Fuel pump??

Change the fuel filter. It is usually located passenger side along the frame rail ahead of the rear tire. You're right, it's starving for gas & because of this your fuel line is heating up & causing vapor lock. This is why your car won't start when hot. Good luck!

I have a 1990 4 cyl jeep wrangler i just filled tank with gas, drove 1 block and jeep stalled. Jeep starts right back up but will not stay running, seems as though its not getting enough gas. Is this a...

It could be the pump but you need to verify if you can hear the pump running after it stalls and you turn the key back on to try and start it. If you don't hear it it isn't running.
The pump is inside the tank but it dosen't come inside, you need to put it in there. That requires removing the tank. On a 90, there is a filter mounted on the chassis near the left rear tire. I'd replace that first as if you replace the pump, that should be replaced as well and if it's plugged up it may in fact be the only problem.

My jeep will not start all of a sudden. When gas

Check the fuel filter, and i would suggest replaceing the fuel in the tank. It only takes about a month for gas to start to deterioate and if it sat that ling there is probally some junk in the tank. witch probally caused the fuel filter to plug up.

Did an oil change, filled gas tank, put in GUMOUT, 1999 Jeep GC

If you put a fuel cleaner additive in the tank I would change the fuel filter. I believe on this model it is located in the frame just ahead of the fuel tank on the drivers side. Any foreign material cut loose from inside the tank from the cleaner often clogs the filter.

You could have gotten bad gas in your tank. Did you try dry gas at all? Also, bad gas can leave alot of sediment at the bottom of your tank, waiting for the right movement to get moving into your system. A new filter would only get quickly clogged again. I had this happen- got gas from a station after a flood- fuel tank had to be dropped and cleaned out.
