Question about 1998 Honda CBR 600 F(3)W

1 Answer

Above 9000 rpm skip/sputter/gear slip.

1998 cbr 600, in gear at rpm above 8500 rpm, it sputters/ skips/ or it seems to wanna slip outta gear?

I found the problem, I checked the rear tire and found it had worn down into the core rubber and that stuff isn't very sticky. Well the groove went half way around the tire so it was slipping for half spins then grabbing. Hence the "sputter, slip outta gear" feel.

    Thanks for the help guys.

I would check the oil first, when your riding at 9000 rpms the bike working harder, if your low on oil the basics is for malfuctions. Check all your fluids, coolant would be the next one. If its sputtering, possibly the air filter could be dirty and need changed.

Sputtering at low rpm ttr230

Run some carb cleaner through the tank. "Seafoam" has a real following. It could be that the jets are crudded up, especially if your bike sat some over the winter.

I have a 03 yamaha vstar 1100 classic and here latley when accelerating hard in second gear the bike seems like the transmission is skipping (not slipping)... any ideas as to what in the tranny is causing...

Sounds like a bent shift fork. While accelerating you can feel the power cutting in and out quickly. The problem will get worse if you keep pushing 2nd gear till it slips. You can learn where (at what RPM) it wants to jump out and start shifting before it jumps out. The long term fix is opening the transmission and fixing the bent shift fork.

1998 Hond CBR 600 goes flat at 5800 rpm

I believe that you should give the carb jets a clean as this sounds like a fuel delivery issue. there is no electrical reason why there should be a break in performance like that.
