Question about 2004 Yamaha YZF-R6

2 Answers

Does anyone know of any tranny probs. w/ 04' YZF-R6?

Im trying to find out about potential transmission problems that may arise? I heard from a not so reliable source that 2nd gears go out? Is this something to be concerned about with my used YZF-R6?

I have a friend he had an R1 his 2nd and 3rd gears blew out and wheelies seemed to be the culprit. in the wheelie the trans oil drains to the back of the trans starving the first few gears of oil.was your bike a wheelie machine? you may never know.

2008 Yamaha YZF-R6 have a problem with immobilizer system,i have try with red key, what should i do,thank you for every answer

Take your bike, your keys and your title to the dealer and let them unlock your bike. The immobilizer is there to keep people from stealing your bike. I don't think I have heard of a time when they accidently messed up.

Why does my 04 yamaha r6 keeps fouling plugs

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel mixture too rich or enrichner left out too long.
2. Incorrect spark plugs for your kind of service.
3. Piston rings badly worn or broken.
4. Valve guides are badly worn and/or seals worn, crushed or have come off valve guide and pump oil through it.
5. Spark plug cable weak or ignition coil faulty.

I bought a 2003 R6 from this guy who said the chain broke on him. The bike only in neutral and first gear. i cant hift up from one to two or neutral to two. Plus I dont the clutch is engaging at all. once...

personally I have never heard of a chain breaking and having any affect on the transmission and shifting. although if the chain broke and caught the shifter, it may have pulled the shifter so hard that it could have bent the shifting forks inside the transmission.. this would explain most of your problems..replace the chain, and with the bike "off" and in neutral, on level ground, rock it back and fourth about 6 inches and try shifting from neutral to 1st and then back up to neutral, and then to 2nd. keep rocking the bike back and fourth while doing this and do this WITHOUT using the clutch. If it wont go to the gears easily, the shift forks are likely bent. there is a safety switch for the kickstand that will shut the bike down if the kickstand is down and bike is in gear. if the kickstand is up and releasing the clutch shuts down the bike, the chain may have damaged that as well. Hope this helps..

yamahas are known for being a little noisy but only up to a certain point. how many miles do you have on your bike? it sounds like there is a good possibility that you might need a valve adjustment.

Are there any known tranny probs that may arise?

Yamaha's deltabox was never the best gearbox.I had 2002 R6 and i hated it, very very clunky and prone to false neutrals.
