Question about 2004 Yamaha YZF-R6

1 Answer

Are there any known tranny probs that may arise?

I am thinking of buying a used 2004 YZF-R6. One of my knuckle head friends said that 2nd gears are known to go bad. Is this true?

Yamaha's deltabox was never the best gearbox.I had 2002 R6 and i hated it, very very clunky and prone to false neutrals.

Welcome to the world of bent shift forks and damage caused by dropping your bike. I hope your bro is gonna buy you another motor. It's cheaper than getting yours repaired.

I have a 2002 yzf r6 when i get up to 50mph in 2nd gear it slips into newtural

Sounds like your second gear planet gear is not fully engageing, it could be worn down. also the shift fork could be out of adjustment. If you hold it in second, will it stay?

Hi, Schneiderbma for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Yamaha, despair not, for a mere $0 you can download another one. Does anyone know of any tranny probs. w/ 04' YZF-R6?

I have a friend he had an R1 his 2nd and 3rd gears blew out and wheelies seemed to be the culprit. in the wheelie the trans oil drains to the back of the trans starving the first few gears of oil.was your bike a wheelie machine? you may never know.
