My car is not cahngine gears and gets stuck in probably 2nd or 3rd gear. When i cahnge setting to Winter( W ) i can manually cahnge the gears prperly Mercedes benz c lass 1.8 auto 2001

98 Trooper (4L30E automatic)won't shift into 3rd.

Based on the symptoms you described, it is possible that the issue is related to the valve body of the transmission. The valve body is responsible for controlling the flow of hydraulic fluid through the transmission and is made up of various valves and solenoids that regulate pressure and flow.
When the winter drive is engaged, the transmission may be bypassing the valve body and locking into third gear directly, which would explain why it starts in third gear when winter drive is engaged. However, the hard shift from 2nd to 3rd and the inability to shift into 3rd without winter drive suggest a problem with the valve body.

Transmission wont shift to 3rd

could be input output sensors but the fact that its sliping means theres a problem it gos in to second gear ans stays there to protect its sekf from ferther dmage AKA limp mode check engin light is probably on have it scaned

Cant shift in to 2nd gear but all other gears

Is it a Manual Transmission or Automatic? If it's a manual, it sounds like your syncro's are going out on your transmission for 2nd gear. You will probably need a rebuild or replacement.

2oo3 chev 4x4 transmission wont shift into 3rd gear. wen i go into 3rd it seems like it stuck in neutral. 1st and 2nd gear are ok.

sounds like third gear went south for the winter and it is not coming back. take it to a tranny shop and don't be too surprised when they hit you with a repair estimate of a $1000.00 and up as they might just have to overhaul the whole thing(sorry i know that this is bad news but itis what it is)

93 Chevy, gear shift **** between 2nd and 3rd

Remove the fluid - get a good flash light - get a very long screw driver - put the screw driver into the drain hole and force the transmission out of gear. Then remove the Transmission and replace or repair. Cheaper to replace. You bent the forks on the shift mechanism.

1996 gmc jimmy won`t shift from 1st to 2nd

IF the abs dash light is on and if the speedometer is sluggish or not working at all, it is probably a bad speed sensor on the transmission. and easy fix under $40 for the part. Mine was stuck in second gear for a while then worked then it stuck in first gear and i had the CHECK ENGINE light on.

Mitsibishi colt 97 stuck in 1st gear

Your link broke off. What might have happened is the car got stuck in 1st, and when you shifted to second, the link broke. Not too clued up on your car, but you probably need to drop the gearbox. On some cars you can take out the shifter without having to drop the box and still see if the link is broken. Good luck

Manual gearbox query

hi fro uk this is a common problem on many cars not just hyundai and ita most common cause of synchro mesh failure on2nd and 3rd gear is believe or not a bad driving habit! it goes like this when you set off in 1st then cange up 2nd gear whilst accellerating holding gearstick? in back position then change up 3rd gear still holding gearstick! in a forward position then? when up to 4th gear we let go of gearstick?? now just by holding g/stick whilst in 2nd and 3rd the slightest pressure also brings the synchro ring into play whilst gear already selected! so inevitably the synchro ring wears away to extent that they no longer work properly so the gearbox is none synchromesh on 2nd 3rd gears and on occasions? on 5 speed box 4th gear can become a victim ? hope you understand ? just quietly observe some peoples habits with manual boxes? as for repairs?cost? this is not a difficult job to replace all synchro rings but box has to be stripped and assesed ? the cost could escalate? but if you want quick turnround? a matter of hours? a recon box with warranty? is other option ? BUT would not advise risking a 2nd hand box probably worse or same as ? whichever choice you take you can check clutch at same time if milage is high? now some good advice! personally this is not a dire problem just a niggleproblem which if you take time in changing gears you can o/come gritty gear change save money for now till it is more affordable ? if you know any old timers truck drivers ? these are the guys who will show you how to drive /change gears none synchro mesh before it was ever invented ? hope this helps daughter but practice on gears and rid of the bad driving habit so many do not realise they have will make her a better experienced!driver
