Hey there. I have had EXACTLY the same problem on my 2008 MT-03. It just died on my 2 months ago, when I wanted to ride back home from work. Symptoms: it felt like the battery was dead. I checked it, it was not. Since it was still under warranty, the Yamaha dealer picked it up, picked it apart in the shop and came with the explanation that the central grounding point of the electrical circuit was corroded and therefore, no electricity could flow, explaining lack of ignition. They 'fixed' it free of charge. Yesterday, WHILE DRIVING on the motorway in Belgium, 120 kmh, my MT03 just totally dies on me. No more combustion, engine totally dead, no more head lights, no more dashboard. I managed to come to a stop without bailing but I could not start it again: same problem as 2 months ago. I have lost my trust in this machine, I think it suffers from some serious problems.

John Deere does not start LA 135

There is a few things to check:
  • make sure the battery is fully charged
  • check the seat switch (under the seat and make sure its connected).
  • disconnect the starter, put tape over the end of the starter wire to avoid a short circuit, and turn the key. see if you hear a click in the starter solenoid that is attached to the other end of the starter wire.
If the engine turns over, but doesn't start
  • Pull the spark plug and check it for fouling and proper gap. While the plug is out, turn the engine over briefly with your hand in front of the spark plug hole and see if you get strong puffs of air against your hand
  • Look at your fuel filter and see if there is any gas visible.
  • if the engine is making loud exhaust bangs while trying to start - replace your flywheel key. Best done by a mechanic.

Why is it that sometimes when you turn the mower off and then try to restart it, it won't start. battery seems OK.

First thing i would check are the battery conections are goog if not clean them up.
Check the fuse connection under the seat, it is for the seat safety switch. It may have became disconnected or blew the fuse.
also
I would suggest new spark plug and fresh gas. You could also take our the spark plug, spray some starter fluid in, put plug back in and try starting again.

My mt03 won't Start..I just parked it for some days now it won't start..it kicks but no electric current supply to the spark plug...plss I need help..what might be the problem??

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
4. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose.
5. Faulty ignition coil or ignition / electronic module
6. Failed CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
7. Faulty ignition switch.
8. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

Motorcycle won't turn over just get a clicking noise from a relay under the seat.

Check the connections they may be loose. If the connections are loose just tighten them and it should work. If not replace the battery. Most of the time if a battery sulfates it will still show a full charge but will not have the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) to start the bike. Take the battery and have it tested. CycleGear can test the battery I think. If not most autozones can check the battery. I am 99% sure it will need to be replaced. If the relay or solenoid were bad there would be no clicking at all.

1992 Honda CB 250 Nighthawk no spark

Hi, Alvinshere and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty pulse coil.
8. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
9. Faulty ignition switch.
10. Faulty run/off switch
11. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
12. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

My riding mower won't start, it cranks but it won't start. I changed the spark plug and I am not getting arc, what could be the problem?

It is likely one of the safety switches is cutting off the spark. They are designed to turn off the mower should you fall off the seat, or try to mow is reverse, etc. These switches get dirty and quit working. They are located under the seat, on the clutch/brake pedal, on the PTO lever (blade engagement), and on the trans gear selector. The least expensive repair is just to replace all of the switches yourself. A local repair shop will typically charge $60 per hour to figure out which switch is bad and then another $40 to $50 to replace it. Expect $200+.
Good luck!
