In many bikes the clutch work in oil and if you use an very good oil like sintetics with may be can cause a slipage clutch not when it is a new one but whne it have an use inportant the discs are more thin and the antifriccion oil can cause slipage more in the better oils like sintethics.

SOURCE: how do i change my trans fluid on a 85 XL600R also

Your trans fluid is the same as your engine oil. The transmission gears are inside of your main housing it is not a sperate compartment like on a car. When you change the oil in the motor you are changing you transmission fluid as well. Full synthetic oil is fine to run in these machines. Make sure you change your oil filter and check your oil screens for any built up debris.

SOURCE: Very hard shifting and clunking into gear

hi mate try not to use fully synthetic oil use semi synthetic and if its clutch slipping you will tell because when you put it in 1st gear it will jump forward or move a little bit but if not then your clutch is perfect also check chain tension if to tight will cause clunking good luck buddy :)

SOURCE: Will Castrol Power RS Racing 4T synthetic oil do

Synthetics work great in Goldwings, but it does need to be a motorcycle oil for wet clutch's. Look for the JASO MA rating for Japanese engines on the bottle. Do not use oils that say ENERGY CONSERVING on the label, they will shorten the life of the gears and wet clutch.

SOURCE: i have a suzuki vl

Lose the synthetic as fast as you can. Synthetics can swell the cork on the pressure plates. This causes the clutch to grab and/or drag. 10w40 motor oil should be in the gear box.

How often should synthetic oil be changed in a warm climate

If you are not using extended performance oil (which would include an extended performance filter) and you are not racing, it should be changed the same as non synthetic oil. That being said, different bikes require different oil change periods and a lot is determined by how it is ridden but I will tell you that synthetic oil outlasts regular oil by about 2-3 times especially in warmer climates. I use synthetic and I typically go by color, if the oil change interval is 5K miles then I check the sight glass and if it gets to be the color of strong coffee then it gets changed, typically it does not reach that point until about 7 to 9K miles on my bike.

Oil capacity

you will need 4ltr can of appropriate oil their is a sight glass on the bottom of the clutch cover it has two marks to the right side the oil should be between the two marks keep the bike upright so as to get a level reading do not overfill above top mark . triumph recommend mobil 1 racing t4 oil or sae 10w40 or15w50 fully synthetic you should use about 3.7ltrs so you will have some oil left for top ups dont forget to change the oil filter this is a must do this is located in the belly pan underneath engine as is the drain plug this will need a new copper washer as the old washer will leak if reused.

Is there any problem running synthetic oil in the fjr 1300. Can it cause clutch slippage etc......

Hello scamp, if your engine is broke in, rings seated, then there is no problem running synthetic. Synthetic will protect your engine better & will give superior lubrication, smoother gear shifts & easier cold weather start-ups. What you want to avoid is the "friction modifiers & energy conserving" labels. These have been known to effect clutch performance.

Yamalube 20w40 is recommended for your bike. That viscosity is hard to find in other brands.
Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 meets or exceeds mfrs specs.
Service classifications, API SM, SL, SJ.SH, CF, JASO MA
I hope this helps, & good luck with your bike.

wix filters are one of the best made and believe me there is a huge difference inside of how well they filter dirt. as far as oil 5w-30 mobile 1 synthetic is recommended but not required. unless ur drag racing it u can use any 5w-30 conventional oil

We have a 2007 triumph and wondering the best choice of motor oil to use in our bank? thank you in advance. please reply to

10w 40 or synthetic detergent 20w50. after you use a synthetic you cant go back, and if you break down in bum u no where and all's they sell is car oil...well that'll do in a pinch if you've used regular 10w if you're hard on your bike and i mean like me! I race my bike and i change the oil before and after a race, and i"ve put over 30k extremely hard miles on this bike, and i"ve been back and forth to Vegas twice on my old 87 CBR it has 50k and its still going strong, i wear out or stretch chains before i need an oil change, thats how hard i am on my two everytime you misshift and grind the gears those small tiny particles get into the entire oil system of your bike. and another thing i noticed after years of owning two of these little 600 f1's is that when it slips out of gear or start to misshift that means you need to change the oil!

What kind of oil should I use for my bike

Motorcycle oil with the JASO MA rating Honda recommends 10w-40 year round or 20w-50 in hot weather. Do not use oil that is Energy Conserving It will shorten wet clutch and gear life. I recommend synthetic Amsoil, Mobil 1 motorcycle, etc.. Also consider synthetic hypoid gear oil for the rear end it will have less friction and run cooler.

Engine oil

Hi, I am a lifelong biker and I can tell you this is strictly a personal preference thing based on how and where you ride. In the owners manuals of almost every bike you will find an oil chart based on temperature if the average temp where you live is below 60F then you want a thinner weight oil and so on. If you race you want maybe a synthetic racing blend. So the bottom line is if you road race in Phoenix vs the person who commutes in New York you would use an entirely different oil. My best advice is to contact your local bike shops or bike clubs and tell them how you ride and they will tell you what they sell locally. Good Luck!

Oil type choice

For the best results use a full synthetic oil - not a synthetic blend. When you change oil filters add an Engine Sentry to the filter.,,
