Is the clutch cable adjusted correctly, you may need to adjust the cable so that the clutch is released more fully, there will be an adjuster on either end of the clutch cable - adjust it so that the cable is tighter - but there should be a little bit of play left in the clutch - if this does not cure the problem you could have some gearbox damage,
The bike is still under warranty so take it to a harley dealers and have them look at it.

SOURCE: capacity of primary oil on a 01 dyna wideglide

Three quarts. Check the oil level with the bike on the side stand. The dipstick has two marks on it. The top mark is "Full Hot" and the lower mark is "Full Cold". Maintain the oil level between the two lines. Do not overfill.

The choke has nothing to do with the Idle. If the choke cable is too loose, there's a nut on the backside of the bracket where the knob is. You can tighten it just a bit but be careful, the parts are made of plastic and they break easily.

On your idle, if your bike is equipped with a carb, remove the air filter cover. At the top right of the carb is the throttle stop screw. Clockwise to increase the speed, Counterclockwise to decrease.

If your bike fuel injected, you'll have to take it to a shop to get the idle set, It's done electronically.

Good Luck
Steve

Brake light comes on when turn ignition switch on harley wide glide 2000

Hi, Renee before diagnosing any brake light issue always check the bulb and fuse first for integrity a brake light staying on is usually caused by the front brake light switch, which is mechanical, not disengaging. On early models moving the throttle control housing closer to the front brake master cylinder is the main fix. On late models, the switch gets tweaked and needs to be realigned. A brake light that does not come on when the brake lever is applied can be caused by a faulty switch or no continuity in the wiring at the switch. The rear brake light switch is hydraulic and it is extremely rare to malfunction in a closed circuit condition causing the brake light to stay on. Usually, rear brake light switch issues are caused by no brake pedal free play or a sticky rear master cylinder piston. A brake light that does not come on when the rear brake pedal is depressed can be caused by a faulty switch, air contamination in the brake line, or no continuity in the wiring at the switch.

How do i talk off my old grips?

Right grip will come off when brake perch and switch housing comes off. Left grip is usually glued on and when clutch perch and switch housing is removed it is usually cut off but if a screw driver is worked down inside of the rubber grip and some brake kleen sprayed in between the screwdriver and the grip and the screwdriver is wiggled and worked around the rubber grip will usually come off undamaged.

Have a 2006 dyna wide glide foot brake light brake light hand brake does not replaced lever wherte is the brake switch

The front brake switch is located inside the right handlebar control. It is a plunger type switch. The correct way to install a new one is to solder the wires on the new switch to existing wires from the old switch. Cut the wires about 2 inches or so from the old switch. Be careful when reinstalling the front lever or you may damage the plunger on the new switch.

I have a 2002 dyna wide glide and the brake light stays on all the time

It's probably the front brake light switch is broken causing this. The brake light switch is operated by a tab on the backside of the front brake lever. To get to the switch, you must disassemble the right handlebar switch housing. Remove the two bolts that hold the housing halves together. Loosen the throttle and idle cable adjustments and remove the throttle sleeve. Lower the bottom half and you'll see the switch in the front of the housing. You'll have to unsolder the wires from the old switch and resolder them to the new switch. I don't think Harley has changed them to plug on type wire connectors. This would be my best guess.

Good Luck

2001 hd dyna wide glide brake light does not come on when brakes are applied , tail light works, bulb is ok , is it the brake sensor ,where is it located and what does it look like thanx

Your Wide Glide has two brake light switches. One is in the right handlebar switch housing and operated by a tang on the front brake lever. If it's not working you probably have a bad switch up there as well. The rear brake switch is underneath the bike. Find the metal line coming out of the rear brake master cylinder. Follow this line back towards the rear brake. You should find a "tee" fitting with a small switch screwed into it. It'll have two wire plugs with about four wires on it unless they've changed something. You'll know it when you see it. Replace this switch first. Since the front brake light works off this switch as well, it may fix the front brake light switch as well. If not, you'll have to take the right handlebar switch housing apart to get to the front switch.

Good Luck

When I use the back brake, the brake light won't come on. I have checked the switch and it appears/tests good. I have 12 volts going to the switch. The brake light works with the front brake

Replace the rear brake light switch. I've run into this before as well. When checking the switch with an ohm meter, it appears good but it will not light the rear bulb. The front brake light switch worked correctly as well. I can't explain it but replacing the switch, even though it checks good, solves the problem every time.
