The biggest issue will be with the ECM. If programming changes were made between the year models to accommodate newer sensors then you will have problems with the ECM and TCM control units. If you transfer just the motor over and leave the transmission as a standard you will reduce the probability of having these problem. The motors should be essentially the same. There maybe some changes on sensor locations and in some cases you may need to make some extenders to accommodate the different locations. The second issue with the newer motor going in to the older vehicle is the ECM being able to control the Crank Position Sensor readings and maintaining the timing as this is key to the motor running well. Again, you may be able to use the ECM from the 2001 to avoid this problem but this assumes that all other major equipment is the same. Where I am seeing the largest issue is with the Transmission. In older vehicle changes from Standard to Automatic is not an issue and vice versa but in the ECM controlled world it becomes a problem. This is sometimes resolved with a simple programming upgrade at other times the ECM is designed to handle either with no further action required. This is Vehicle make and model specific though. One manufacturer may not require any further action where another may and there is no listing of exceptions.

SOURCE: Clutch

There is a spring on the pedal up under the dash, if this has come undone then the pedal may not be able to come back up to the normal position. The spring connects directly to the pedal and to a bracket under the dash.

Sounds like the slave cylinder is needing bled out from air or fluid needs added also could be going out or this could be the pressure plate unlikely though if fluid is not your problem this may be. Look under the vehicle for fluid deposits or wetness also check the clutch reservoir to check its level this is where i would start.

Hi. Thanks for your question. Transmission issues can sometimes cost you more money so i would recommend you to troubleshot yourself first. You can visit https://www.reliable-store.com and download the entire workshop manual. It has all the information along with the diagrams for better understanding. Good day!

Blower motor speed not working

This is usually due to 1 of 3 possible problems.

  1. Bad blower motor resistor - attaches to blower motor and regulates fan speeds. Not uncommon to lose 1 speed at a time until you get stuck with only 1 speed
  2. Bad blower motor
  3. Bad heater control module - less likely but still possible the module is bad and the whole unit requires replacing

What transmission fluid is best in my "standard

Synthetic 80/90 hypoid works great for freezing/cold climate driving. You may notice it is harder to push the transmission into gear. some times the syncros slip more with synthetic oil slowing down the gear speed/mesh action (a slower-harder shift). If you notice this after the oil change, and do not like the synthetic, it is not that expensive to change it back. If you do a lot of driving below 30 degrees or especially below 0 degrees you may want to try synthetic hypoid. it makes driving in cold weather a breeze (no holding in the clutch for five minutes while the motor warms up).

2000 kia sportage clutch works sometimes

The master cylinder only gets low if there is a leak. Your slave cylinder or the master cylinder is leaking. Look under dash were the petal pushed the master cylinder to see if fluid is coming out. Then look at the slave cylinder under the car. It is bolted to the right side of the transmission bell housing. May have to pull rubber boot back on it to check for fluid leakage.
