SOURCE: I have a 1993 intruder 800 (vs800) it starts fine

When you fuel up, try not to aerate the fuel. Let the nozzle dump the fuel over the hump in the tankto avoid getting it all aired up. Good Luck.

SOURCE: clutch lever went soft while riding

Check the condition of your clutch master and slave cylinders. You'll probably find you need a new slave cylinder, of course new oil and bleeding, hope this helps.

SOURCE: i lost my operators manual

Starting should be accomplished by pressing the starter button with the clutch pulled in, bike in neutral, and choke on. If starting in gear, the sidestand will need to be retracted (up) as well as clutch lever pulled in.
Unfortunately, if the bike has not been used in 10 years, you may have other problems that will cause it not to start, i.e. dead battery, bad fuel, gummed up carburetors, or faulty switches to name a few.
Hope this helps.

Start at the fuses. If it continues to shoot the fuse there is a wiring problem this will need addressing.

If it was the relay, you probably wouldn't hear it clicking. you may be able to hold the starter button, and tap on the starter lightly to see if it works.
