'97 Chev Silverado - turn the key on to start and nothing - no lights, no clicking from starter, nothing. Obviously thought it is a dead battery problem - charged the battery and still nothing. Tried a different battery, nothing. Tried boosting and truck will not even turn over, no lights, nothing. Checked fuses and they all test okay. Any ideas?
Check the connections on the wires from the battery to the under hood fuse block as well as the main power to the starter from the battery.........do the same with the grounds.....look for green and loose/broken connections (some that look good may be bad so take a socket or wrench and loosen them then re-tighten them to be sure.spraying them with some contact cleaner and maybe using some sandpaper on them will ensure a good connection.
hope this helps!
It sounds like the solenoid on the starter. you can try bumping on it with something. it has wires connecting to it. dont hit it real hard though.
