Why do the clocks on my 2009 Honda CBX 250 keep resetting?

You have a loose wire someplace in the system, or your not making a good enough ground. As you ride the system vibrates and your losing the connection.

Most motorcycles manufactured after 1986 Have a little known safety device called a "Tip Sensor" It's not commonly known about.
There are different solutions for different bikes.
On carb models and some Harley's resetting the battery by removing the cables and reattachment usually works.

Most metric models require a switch reset.
Make certain it is ready to run normally, if it's sat then make sure the fuel is fresh, proper motor oil level and T clock just as you always should every time B4 you ride.

Insert the key into the switch, and switch it all the way across to parking lights or whatever function the other side is, in a smooth fashion.
then immediately back to the off position then to the normal start position. The sensor should reset, and the bike will start normally.

(if it's been down, please make sure you check it out completely or have your mechanic go over it)
A lot of bikes go to salvage before they're time, because most people don't know about the reset process.

Heavy gas smell but no apparent leeks, when starting the bike does not turn over the first time and the clock zero's out then starts on the second push of the button.

Fuel tank on your bike is vented to the atmosphere, and especially when the tank is full it is commom to smell gas.

If the clock zeroes on starting, your battery is weak. Check the battery terminal connections by removing the rider seat and looking in at the battery. Try to wiggle the wires connected to the battery and make sure the connections are tight.

Next, put a small charger on the battery and let it charge up for several hours.

If clock still resets on starting, you will need to replace the battery on your bike.

Good Luck

Rev clock goes to 7 wen you turn on ignition

Most modern bikes do it, ( my friends bikes all do it ) it's a way of the tacho to reset itself every time you switch the bike on, worry if it doesn't do it. ;-)

Your battery is dead, the extra draw when trying to start is pulling the wattage so low that your clock is resetting. It will run fine until the battery goes dry and then lightbulbs will all go out and you'll blow your rectifier/regulator. Replace or refill and charg your battery and you'll be good to go.

Honda VFR800 Fi 2000 W Reg LCD clock problem

The problem is usually a weak battery. When cranking, it pulls down the system so much that the clock resets. Try puting the batt on a charger and start the bike to see if the clock resets with a steady feed of voltage.

Clock resets on every startup

im just wondering if anyone has ever had the problem of their clock resetting. It goes to 1:00 everytime i start my bike. The battery is good and has plenty of power to start the bike right up. It must be the clock loses power after shutting it off or during startup any suggestions would be great.Mine used to do that too. I removed and replaced the battery op check good.  My guess is that the starter would drop the voltage down to an unsustainable level for the clock to remember the time. Have your battery checked.,,,
