SOURCE: Spark plug installation

The plugs have no need for Never Seize. In 45 years of bike repair I have never seen a plug fail to come out. Also, I would be concerned about any problems the compound may create being exposed to pressure and extreme heat. Can I get a “very helpful” rating on this answer?

hi,might be able to help,i am not sure if your bike is injected or not,if it is a carb model then you will have to have the carbs rejetted to suit the modifications you have done to it,it sounds like the bike is running to lean, and you will have to get it sorted sooner rather than later as the engine will be damaged if left running in to leaner state,if your bike is injected take it to a kawasaki agent and have the fuel mapping adjusted to suit, hope this helps...cheers

IAC (IDLE AIR CONTROL) should be replaced. You will be amazed at the difference when you change it.

Hi,please help.I own a cb750 f 81 modle it started misfiring at high revs and after a long trip has started tapping, plus a noise inside the engine sounds like a loose bolt rattling around in there, but then...

About the only thing I can think of on the rattle is a broken gear tooth or a cap nut from and OHC mount has come loose or has come off and followed the cam chain down into the gearbox. I would be leery about riding it until the problem is found. The last thing you need is to be sliding on the concrete in traffic after the rattle gets in the wrong place and locks ou the gearbox at 60 mph.

I own a 2004 BMW R1200CL. Almost every time I crank the engine I can hear the valves rattle. I have checked and adjusted the valve clearances to spec. The rattle goes away after the engine starts, but...

Yep, most of these bikes do rattle on startup. The noise is from cam chain slack. A hydraulic tensioner is used in the engine on each side as there are two cam chains. The tensioner leaks down after the engine sits for a while and the chain rattles for a few seconds till the tensioner gets pumped back full of oil again. Once the chain is tight again, then no noise.

BMW came out with an improved tensioner (doesn't leak down as quickly) that you can install on your engine to fix the rattle. Note that it is much easier to change the RHS tensioner than the LHS one.

Good Luck!

Chain rattling noise

Locate the knock sensor on your engine. Quick test on them is to tap on the engine with a small hammer near (not on) the sensor. If engine rpms do not change then likely the sensor is bad. Likely what you are hearing (if it is coming from the engine) is detonation. If the noise is elsewhere, it could be a bad chain in the transfer case, but that would need to be looked at to evaluate the problem further.

Rattling Coming from Engine At low RPM (stopped) and when accl.

If this sounds like a tin can rattle it is likely a loose heat shield on top of the catalytic converter. They come loose after time and corrosion take their toll.

This only happens when the Car is Cold???? It is the Exhaust Manifold. You need to Replace the Exhaust Manifold Gasket and check the Rest for Tightness.
