SOURCE: Iwant to install a set

Nobody sells a kit specifically for this job but the parts are available. Custom Chrome sells the wiring extension kits. Barnett offers or will make us a set of cables for you but you must tell them the length of the cables. Once you figure out how long the cables need to be, you may find that they've already got them available. I usually put the bars on and then use stiff wire to "fabricate" a cable. Once you get the wire run like you want it, take off and measure it. This is the cable length you need. You can go to Barrnett's website and they've got a page that tells you how to measure the cable from the total length that you got using the wire.

SOURCE: Installing ape hangers and I

Well, you didn't say what year model bike you're working on but if the bike has the early connectors, you need a pair of special tools to "unpin" the plugs. If your bike is later than 1996, I think, it probably has Bosch type connectors. These things come apart but it's like one of those Chinese puzzles to me. I have gotten them apart but I have to figure each different one out. The service manual tells you how to get them apart. May be a site online that will tell you.

SOURCE: I took the apes off

Hello desertchop, i have done this before with the same results...I had two stereo amps mounted inside the fairing to deal with and birdsnest of wires from hell. Needless to say it's very aggravating....The dangling should of not hurt the lights, but before you backtrack, run a hotwire to see if they will power on, if they wont the solder might of pulled loose. I found that i had pinched a couple of wires and a one of the wiring harness connectors wasn't all the way in when i went back over everything...When the abs light flashes the brakes convert back to regular brakes, you have wire that has come off somewhere...check the harness...follow the abs line and you will find it. Take a zip tie and tie it together. Hope this helps & good luck with your glide.

SOURCE: I took the apes off my 2009 rk and installed

I don't know a lot about the later model bikes since I specialize in repairing the older bikes but I guess you damaged your front brake light switch in the right side handlebar switch housing. The switch sticks out of the side of the housing that faces the front MC. That's my best guess.

I have a Huffy Verona 18 speed with the Soleus shifter first the cable wasn't working so I put wd-40 down the cable that has freed it up but I'm having problems getting the rear railer to change...

When I have had that trouble with my own bike, I have taken the cable off and replaced the vinyl housing. If that isn't an option, get the cable as free as you can, then lubricate the rear derailer, and with a cloth, so as not to soil your hands, grab hold of the derailer and work it back and forth to free it up. Riding the bike causes all the road grime to accumulate on the derailer making it stick.
Hope this is of some help

I'm not receiving all my Friends posts. How do I get the missing ones?

Hi, how are you viewing your homepage? If it's on the FB setting (Top News), then you'll only see the ones most recently commented on. A pain, I know. You need to click on the "Most Recent" link (in blue) next to it. That will give you every post available for you to see. That's the important bit. If you've blocked someone, or they've blocked you, or either has been deleted from the others' friend list, they won't show up. Just double check you and your friend are still linked (Go to the "Profile" tab, and click on "friends" under your profile picture), and check to see they're still listed. If they're not, then find them in the search bar at the top, and send them a friend request. Sometimes FB will mess about with settings - it's happened on and off with a lot of my friends. ALSO - if your friends have set up new account, and stopped using their old ones, you won't get the new page notfications.

That should be the end of your problem, let me know if it doesn't work.

I have a 2003 XL1200 tried to put old throttle and idle cables back on after switching bars and they are so tight it won't spring back. adjusted all the way down and put on according to manual. What can I...

You need to put longer cables on your bike. Anytime you change handlebars, you're subject to run into cables and wiring that are either too long or too short. By the way you're describing the problem it seems your cables are too short due to a set of taller or wider bars installed on your bike. You need a set +6" cables from Barrnett. Go to this site.
You may have to find a dealer in order to purchase the cables you need. Good Luck.

Im' trying to install a light bar.. headlight works.. directionals located under the 2 new lights all lights work except the 2 new lights on the bar.. we seem to have all the wiring in place.. what can i...

ok. some of these bikes have existing harnesses to plug into for all the wiring connections. And in this type setup, alot of the manufacturers will have these additional lights to function only on low beam. So try high and low beam settings to see if the litebar comes on. if not, check the bar for a secondary on/off switch. if no switch, check power source and grounds. dont forget to make sure the bulbs are good. i have installed a lot of these and have the new bulbs to be bad! hope this helps you out!

Extender bar has no way of threading into fan

There should be a set screw on either side of the pin that goes through the downrod where it meets the motor housing, make sure they are tight (or not missing)

Engine revs when turning right.

Wrong size throttle cable or misadjustment. At the handlebars, I've seen some set that acceleration causes a pull of the cable, I've also seen bikes set to push the cable. Confirm this is set correctly, and that your mechanic used the correct legnth of cable.

Harley Heated Hand Grips not working

The harley heated handgrips are notorious for failing.  Some people have reported finding a loose connection on the ground wire, like they did not crimp the terminal on the end of the wire at the factory.  If they are wired externally of the bars (almost impossible to wire those any other way) then it should be easy to follow the wire down to inside the headlight bucket or in the nacelle or dash, (depending on what model bike) and check the connections.  If both grips quit at the same time then it's probably wiring.  If one quit first, then it may be the grip itself.
If you need to replace them, I would highly recommend not buying the HD brand anymore, and instead choose Polly grip heaters.  They are made for snowmobiles and have a long list of benefits over the HD type: - fits internally in the bar end, so you can use any grips you want - cost $35!!  compared to $250 for HD - easy to install
I have installed over 7 sets in my friends bikes and not one single failure.

No power when I try to start bike, just a click…

Check the battery connections. Remove, clean and reinstall them. You probably had them off doing the wiring and they aren't making a good connection now. Always remove the negative first and install it last.
