SOURCE: timing chain tensioner adjustment

all v twin engines are noisy, if you could totally silence the exhaust noise, you would be horrified how awful the motor sounds, it could probably do with the cam chain tensioner ADJUSTING. i wouldn't think it would need replacing. unfortunately the manual only recomends this being done by a qualified tech, i have a xvs 650 with same trouble. i would adjust myself if i could find out the correct tollerences.

Air cleaner clean? Is it in fact warm (the engine) .

Id be inclined to let it warm a little more. Your hot bike has advanced time and as a result is difficult when cold.

SOURCE: XVS 1100 idle

at sea level there is 14.7 psi of air pressure, the higher you go the thinner the air. thus, need more air and less fuel. adjuster your idle air screw mixture.

I have got a yamaha xvs 1100 dragstar classic 2005 model. it ticks over but as soon as i rev up it cuts out. what do you think could be the problem ?

check the fuel filters, it sounds to me as though there is a partial blockage which allows just enough to sustain tickover and starves the bike upon rev up. this is the first step to check and the most likely. good luck.

Hey i have a dragstar 1100 A and the oil light comes on after starting the bike and wont turn of again. I have checked the oil level and it is ok. Wander if the rele that is placed next to the battery is...

Dont drive it until you know the problem. Unless you are rally brave, if it really has no pressure it will destroy the engine

check or replace the oil pressure sender switch , and the relay( if it is the oil sender relay)

Question about 2004 Yamaha XVS 1100 Dragstar Classic headlight not working

Hi, Srgotts1 if your headlight is not working, only one beam works, keeps burning out, blinking, or is dim the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, then check your head light bulb socket ground wire for a clean tight connection, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket.
2. Worn down solder contacts or loose fit of the bulb base in the socket due to vibration.
3. Worn, chaffed, or broken wires in the light circuit.
4. Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors.
5. Faulty hi/lo beam switch.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides.
8. Faulty headlight relay.
9. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.
10. Weak charging alternator/generator.
11. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier ground or overcharging.

Oil filter

Hi .... Have a look at the front of the righthand engine casing, it's there. You have to take off the exhaust to get to it, allegedly a 1 1/2 job inc taking off the exhaust. There is an aftermarket kit for relocating the air filter, takes only 20 mins all in then from start to finish.
