Remove the sparkplugs and ground them to the engine try to start check for spark at plug if sparking check for compression put your finger over plug hole try to start if it pops off check carb for gas (didnt say if it was running and then sat for a while) with spark and compression and good gas it should run if your finger dosent pop off then the problem is no valve movement to create compression(broken cam chain) that would allow the engine to roll over quickly or whirr as you said check these things and let us know

Motorcycle runs great never had any issues, but the battery was 4+ years old . One morning I tried to start it and the battery was very weak tried to start several times would not start , brought new yusa...

I have had over 20 bikes over the last 44 years and never had a battery last longer than 4yrs. Im guessing the battery needed to be replaced anyway. Did you check to see if the switch on the kick stand safty was stuck? What is going on with the emergency kill switch, is it sticking? I would check the connections to the starter and the starter relay as well.

My ktm duke had a low battery i fitted a new one and the ignition worked fine but now it dose nothing but bike kick starts

Check your stator and voltage regulator for proper output. Sounds like the battery isn't receiving a charge through the system. You can charge the battery with a trickle charger to verify the battery will take a charge outside the bikes charging system.

Duke 2 loss of power when engine under load

Is the bike at stock condition?
Check the carb and the charging system.
You should measure 13,5-14V at your battery in 3000rpm with your high beams on.

1996 bmw r1100rt, my ABS system seems to mis-sync more often as of late. I can restart over and over and it will eventually sync, any ideas on how to correct so it syncs the first time.

This is common on all bikes of this era. A new battery will resolve this problem for a while until it starts to drain down after 6 months to a year or so. The problem is the ABS system needs a good solid 12.5V or better to work at start up. This is the same time the starter also needs good power which puts a heavy load on the battery. They both end up competing with one another and the ABS computer creates a fault but the bike still starts. By starting it again and again helps because the battery is quickly charging each time you start. So, a new battery can help or put your bike on a trickle charge from time to time. The problem will never be fully resolved. You need to eliminate the fault before riding or your ABS system is non functional.
