Question about 2003 Honda VT 750 CD Shadow A.C.E. Deluxe

Rattle under right crank case in clutch area.

I am getting ready to troubleshoot a rattle in my clutch (hopefully not transmission). During cold start-up there is a rattle in the clutch that can be felt in the lever. The rattle changes sound when the lever is pulled in. It is only present when the engine and transmission are cold. After warm up it goes away. I have a repair manual and am comfortable doing this inspection/repair. Any suggestions as to what could be going on? I also have another issue that I will post seperatly.

I have a rattle from the front end of the engine thought it was my fan belt tensioner wheel changed that and its still there took fan belt off so no other equipment running and its still there only there...

look for any metal or plastic cover/protector for casing of parts/ moving parts or the radiator fan casing rattles are majorly caused by poor bolting of parts or cracked parts. . best to do this with a stick and to dip in the parts with caution and see if rattle disappears. hope this helps..

Switch on compressor clicks on loudly and compressor makes a rattling noise when it runs.

if your sure it is the compressor relay that is making the noise then i would suggest replacing it fast... it may be getting weak and will leave the milk spoiling soon... another possibility is that the compressor it self is starting to get harder to crank and or the compressor itself is getting ready to go out...you may be hearing a rattle because sometimes it is not starting and the rattle is the compressor vibrating because of a weak start relay... hopeful thats the case if it constantly is rattling then i would say the compressor valves are starting to fail adn won't be long before you are shopping for a new unit or a appliance repair man ...good luck to you...lets hope you caught it early enough ....

I have rattle problem with my BMW R1200 Montauk motorcycle. It sounds fine on starting from cold but once engine gets hot a rattle develops. Williams BMW Manchester have suggested it could be exhaust...

I have seen a few of the R1200C bikes with this rattle.... There is a cat. converter in the exhaust system and it sits between the pipes approx. under the transmission. This is the usual cause of the rattle.

Warm the bike up by riding it around for a while, then stop the engine and use a plastic face or rubber hammer to tap on the exhaust system in the area near the transmission to see if you can hear a rattle or something loose in the exhaust. This should give you some idea where the source of the rattle is.

There is no easy fix for this problem except replacement of the offending parts.

Relaced transmission and now have a rattle sound comind from torque coverter area, noise gets louder when gas pedal is applied and noise goes away during shifting of transmission btu comes right back after...

your torque converter is rattling that is the clutch on the stator inside is worn out... You can stall test your torque converter ...Do this but follow correctly. put on parking brake..on the asphalt,,,, block all four wheels...push the gas to the floor for just 2 seconds...down one, two lift off gas pedal quickly..
when your doing this WATCH your RPMs they should reach to around 2200-2400 between the 2-4 rpm if not the Torque Converter is toast!!!! If your car passes the STAll test then when you tranny was put back on one of the fly wheel covers are rubbing....!!!.

'02 Yamaha XJR1300 Rattle/vibrating noise from bottom of engine

how do you adjust the headlight beam on a xjr1300 naked 2002 bike, is it as simple as undoing the 2 bracket bolts at the sides of the lights and re-setting the lights to a new level ??
currently it seems to be set for riding with a pillion passanger or heavy load at the rear as the lights are set low, no one flashes me even if i ride at night with full beam on !

thanks xjr cambs

I have a 2001 Ford ranger supercab that makes rattling noises. It has a 4.0L SOHC. It makes a very fast and loud metallic rattle wich softens anfter about a second or so when I first start it for the day....

4.0l's are notorious for valve rattle on cold start-up. There is really nothing you can do to make it go away short of completely replacing the valve train in the top end, and that isn't a permanent fix. It's is an top end oiling issue from the factory. Just don't race your engine on cold start-up until the rattle stops.

The rattle in the transmission sounds to me to be more of a loose dust shield/heat shield around the transmission or exhaust than a mechanical issue.

A/C Problem Tensioner rattling

well if it is the engine i am thinking of that has the small ac belt with the little tensioner on the passenger side bottom area it is most likely the ac clutch is locking up turn the rear air of have some one rev the motor watch the tensioner if it is moving alot banging into another part making the rattle then you might get ready to have to replace the compressor when it gets worse they usually break the tensioner.
