Question about 2008 Triumph Daytona 675

2 Answers

Won't start! Have a problem! I have an 08 675 and it wont start. Never had this issue. It's in nuetral, the kick stand is down and the clutch is in. All I hear is a slight clicking noise. Like a contactor is making contact. The battery has plenty of juice. I thought maybe it was the clutch safety switch or the kick stand safety switch. But it is suppose to start if the clutch is in and the kick stand is up. If I hold the ignition switch down and put the clutch in and out the slight clicking noise I was talking about happens every time I put the clutch in. Having that said I dont believe it is the clutch or kick stand safety switch. Any suggestions out there?

That's the whole problem its not cranking at all! Battery has plenty of juice. Something is keeping the starter from engaging. Only thing I can think of is some type of safety switch?

Yes I have tried putting it in gear then back in nuetral. Also I have put the kick stand up and down. Going to take off the side panelling this morning and see what jumping the relay does for me. FYI the bike only has 500miles on it.

Ok the problem is resolved! It seems it's alway's something so simple. Come to find out it was as simple as a fuse. I did not know this but the starter is tied into the high beam fuse. Who would of thought it? Thanks for all of the suggestions!

I went to start my 2007 Daytona 675 this morning and it made all the startup lights and sounds, I heard the pump prime, all the lights work but the starter won't engage. All I hear is a light click. I've been easy on it, she has 4,000 miles and is in perfect condition. What could be causing this?

Your battery is providing how many volts while cranking? Have you tested it with a voltmeter?

Sounds like the starter solonoid(or relay) has gone on vacation with out you or the bike the clicking noise would be the (relay) solonoid trying to complete the circut to engage the starter

Kick stand switch may be the problem, if the kick stand is down and clutch out it wont start, sometime this switch will play up and it can be bypassed.

Nuetral switch light does come on bike does crank.i have to put kick stand up an clutch handle in to start

Your motorcycle will not start in gear if the kick stand is down. It will not start in gear if the clutch is not pulled in ... Safety features. When I say these things ... I am including crank and start as the same although some times it will crank and not start. Sometimes when you have the kick stand up and the bike in neutral and the light is on, it still will not start. This has happened to me and probably to you also. This condition exists because the kill switch is in the off position.

You say the neutral light is on ... Experienced riders will say that if the light is on, that means it (1) has power and (2) the lamp is not burned out. Few riders I know actually rely on the light to prove neutral.

Experienced riders will also say that the stand should be up and the bike should be in neutral before you try to start it. There are exceptions of course, like when you want to work on it or warm it up while you are getting dressed.

I hoped this response addresses your concern. Thanks for visiting today.

I noticed a button on the kick stand and remebered that one of my other bikes wont let me start the bike with the kick stand down. Is this also true with the Intruder?

possibly.
some bikes will let you start with the stand down, as long as the clutch is in, same with it in gear.
some bikes wont let it start at all in gear, or with the stand down.
All suzukis usually work the same.

Kickstart wont move

Make sure it is in nuetral before trying to kick or the brake will keep engine from spinning. Otherwise have some friends push start you that will let you know if engine is good.

Triumph Daytona 675

So I just had this exact problem about an hour ago. I wondered about the starter, crankshaft, etc. but discarded them for the simplest explanation: battery.
I'm sure you've all noticed how absurdly easy it is to mistakenly miss the steering lock and put the parking lights on. Odds are you may have done this without realizing (I must've even if I don't remember). Jumper cables are the answer.
If you've never jumped a bike, here's the skinny: 1) Make sure the car you're jumping from is, and remains, off. 2) Connect the cables as normal; black to black, red to red. 3) Let the bike sit for a minute then start her up. 4) If you can, take her for a ride to get the charge back up.
If this doesn't work, then you may very well have more serious issues. Hope this helps, ride safe!
