the oil filter should be inside the round finned cover at the front of the motor/trans. if you have found the drain plug also at the front but underneath, the filter is above it.... oil capacity should be molded into the crankcase next to the oil filler cap

without a manual can you set-up the timing mark on flywheel
an see what cyl is compression stroke to find #1 cly
coil 1 are spark wires 1 and 4 cyl
coil 2 are spark wires 2 and 3 cyl
now if still have trouble then (if same plug connection) switch the around inlet plug on coils form bike wire harness or swap spark wires

there is not much difference between those 2 engines. they are the same cc and both are in-line 4 cylinders.

Use 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell.
FYI ---- Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx
