Im pretty good with mechanics, it threw me off a little because the lights and all still work, but when I try to start it it clicks. I think its the battery, I have it charging know. I also have a 883 sportster that leaks fuel from the carb, just behind the accelerator pump rod. But carbs make me nervous because they are very "part-y". I need some help finding out how to remove the carb so I dont jack anything up with it.

Have you checked to see if the spark plugs might be longer then the ones you took out? If they are too long they can hit the top of the pistons and the electrodes can bend.

SOURCE: Motorcycle wont start

Check your spark plugs, they are quite fragile & yoy may have a crack in the ceramics. Replacement is recommended.

Check the leads to your spark plugs. These wires are cheap to change out and have a reputation for intermittent failure

2004 dyna wide glide wont start i changed the spark plugs

Hi Anonymous, and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty
2. Fuel supply valve turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded with gasoline as a result of over use of enrichner.
5. Fuel valve or filter clogged.
6. Vacuum hose to automatic fuel supply valve disconnected, leaking, or pinched.
7. Discharged battery, loose or broken battery connections.
8. Loose wire connection at coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
9. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, spark plug cable connections loose,
or cables connected to wrong cylinders.
10. Ignition timing incorrect due to faulty ignition coil, ignition module, or sensors " Manifold Absolute Pressure" "Camshaft Position Sensor" "Crank Position Sensor" "Brake Apply Sensor
11. Engine lubricant to heavy ( winter operation )
12. Sticking or damaged valves or push rod wrong length.
13. Primary cam sproket spline sheared or missing spacer.
14. Security alarm system not disarming.

Engine wont start

Its possible you got enough oil in one cylinder to make the engine hydro-lock. That is a condition where something liquid is in the cylinder and will not allow the piston to travel from top to bottom.
You may have broke the timing belt.

No spark wont fire 1986 buick regal

If the starter cranks very fast when you are trying to start to check for spark, it is a possiblity that you have a busted timing chain. This explains the rapid sound of you starter engaging, because the crankshaft is not being turned and the camshft is not either therefore no spark is made.

Turns over wont start. Changed fuel filter has

If youve ran through everything as in the spark if its getting fuel, if it has compression remove number one place a finger over the hole and have someone turn it over if it tries to push your finger out then it has compression be careful dont stick you finger in if you dont have to it can push it out with lots of forced air. If it is none of those it might also be the timing a slight bump to the distributer and knock off the timing on some models(keep plug in boot for number one cylinder place plug against metal on engine have someone turn it over if thats sparking timing might be ok. So if you have fuel getting to it, spark and compession it might also be this little bugger known as an inertia switch usually found on the right passenger side it depends on the vehicle as to where exactly and if it is equipt with one. press the little button to reset the ball bearing to reestablish contact

Hi ,I have a chevy blazer s-10 1993 and she won't start ,I change :spark plugs ,cap ,rotor , spark plug wires, fuel pump (58 psi) injectors (spider)internal hoses, starter and battery. but still my truck...

Find the pressure test port (looks like a tire valve) on the fuel distribution rail over the injectors and place a can over the open end of the valve. Press the inner pin to release fuel into the can. If the pressure seems to fall rapidly, replace the fuel filter. Is the check engine light on? Rent a scanner, read any code(s), and pursue to repair(s). A bad crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor can prevent the injectors from firing fuel into the engine.
