Petrol flows from carburetor though its on reserve, what to do?

While on side stand also petrol flows . im irritated with this problem

Hi,

Offhand, fuel overflow could be brought about by:

  • misadjusted/punctured float; and/or
  • dirt/sand lodged in the fuel inlet valve. Often this fuel inlet valve is a pin with one end pointed (sometimes rubber) and is controlled by the float.
A seized starter plunger would have to be replaced. This problem could have been brought about by:
  • short/jumping contacts of the starter switch;
  • sticking/corroded terminals/contactors of the starting relay.

sounds like the float is stuck,inside the carb.try tapping on it with something or hold the front brake and bounce the front end,if that fixes it ,its only temparary,need new carb ki ,installed

If the screw is on the air filter side of the slide of the carb then it regulates air and screwing it in will make the idle circuit run richer (more fuel, less bleed air). If it is on the engine side of the slide then it regulates fuel and screwing it in will make the idle circuit run leaner (less fuel).

Is it throttle-boy injection, carburetor, or port injection? If throttle-body or carburetor, take the air cleaner lid off and pour a little gas down it. The see if it will start....do it quickly though, before the gas can evaporate.

I have a pulsar 150,now my carburetor leaks oil from waste pipe,my mechanic firstly shown rust in oil tank then he change the tank ,many times clean the carburetor and change the pin.but oil leakge not...


Hi,the way it works is.....petrol gose from tank into filler pipe into carb it fills the bowl at the bottom of carb float rises and shuts off the petrol by means of a inlet valve when float pushes it shut,
so if there is petrol coming out of the over flow pipe from the carb bowl it is iver the valve is worn(can be replaced)or the float is not at the right level(to high) or float has a hole so sinks(get a small container put petrol in it and put float in if it floats its ok)the other thing is the gasket that gose between the bowl and and top part of bowl make shore its not broken,

Hi my son has a drz70 and it just conked out on him lastnight, I have checked all the basics but hthere seems to be a petrol smell in the oil does this mean the head is cracked.


No, the head is not cracked. Basics: new spark plug, gas in the tank. Drain the carburetor, ( it may be filled with water from condensation in the petrol tank ), clean the air filter, check for spark on the new spark plug, handlebar and side stand kill switch (if your model has one), ignition switch, battery connections, fuses and wire connections. Chances are the petrol smell is just piston blow-by mixing with the oil in the gearbox. Don't worry about it too much. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

when ur petrol is end,then u move the petrol keys to down.and then u go to 50/60 km more.reserve capacity have 2 litter petrol.

Hi,

You firstly need to determined where the leak is coming from.

Turn the fuel off at the fuel tap. "Does it still leak?" if yes it may be that the tap is the issue.

Try and find the highest point where you can see petrol,

Is it around the hose joints? If it is you may need to replace and put clamps on the hose.

Is it leaking from the carburetor. If yes you may need pull the carburetor apart, clean it and possible put a new carburetor kit through it.

The main thing to remember is that the leak can only be between the tank and the carburetor.

I need to drain my Honda Activa petrol tank as I need to transport it to Bangalore. How do I do this.


Shut off valve at the bottom of tank. remove fuel line from carburetor and point it into an approved fuel container. Open fuel valve and drain tank. If you have a reserve setting on your valve, turn it to that to get all the fuel out. Then, look the the bowl of your carburetor. At the bottom there is a small drain line. Above that drain line is a slotted screw. Point that drain line into a container and turn the screw left to drain the fuel out of the carburetor bowl. Retighten the screw after it drains. Place your fuel tank valve to off.

My suzuki tl1000 will not start what do i need to do

With such little info we have to start from the beginning
First check the obvious
Is the kill switch on run?
Is there petrol in tank? turn petrol tap to reserve
Is it in gear?
Is the side-stand down?
Do the brake lever switches work?
Check the Ign fuse
Is the battery charged?

I need more info really or its all plain guesswork

What happens when U press the starter? Does the engine turn over at all? Is there a whirring noise or just 1 click perhaps? All these cd b down 2 a dead battery !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take the reading from the reserve to reserve by filling one litre of petrol when the vehicle goes to reserve. (Arrow of the petrol tap should always face main for main and res. for reserve),
