Jumps into second gear.

I have LT500 ATV 1999 suzuki. When I put it in 1st gear and start to go along jumps into second gear with bang. I think it is a clutch adjustment and I need to know how to adjust it.

The shifting fork works real good in all the other gears.
I'm scared it is going to take out second gear the way it goes in.

Dont think its the clutch sounds like a bent shift fork, in first gear starting off the transmission has torque or pressure applied to the first gear set when you let the throttle off (no torque or pressure on tranny) it shifts by its self this is a sign of a bent shift fork hope this helps leave us a rate please

Gsx750 clutch cable

See if you can push the bike with it in gear and the clutch lever pulled in. If the clutch is stuck, push start the bike, jump on, get to about 10 mph, pull in the clutch lever and hit the rear brake hard. This will usually break a stuck clutch loose.

My 1989 gsx 600 suzuki jumps when i try to put it in gear

maybe wrong viscosity in the clutch cavity, make sure its the proper oil. then think about making a complete clutch adjustment.
check the service manual for making adjustments.

2ND GEAR SLIPPING

If all gears have been changed for new ones and it still jumps out of second it is most likely to be a bent selector fork.

My 99 yammy xjr1300 jumps out of second gear

Unfortunatly sounds like a bent selector shaft or worn gear dogs ..,which means large sums of money to get fixed. One option is to skip second and double shift to third,Yeah it's a pain but it"s cheaper but go easy on the clutch, have some revs on the clock before the change.......Chow.

sounds like the gear selector plate plunger is worn or needs a new spring. on most engines a hollow screw @ 3/4" is accessible from under gear box, take it out and stretch the spring and retry to eliminate possibility.

LT 500 ATV clutch adjustment

Hi!
I havn't come across your Machine before but hopefully a little Q 'n' A will solve/FiXya problem.
O.K. 1st is the clutch cable operated? if so can the cable should be adjustable from the handle bars?(Then take up the slack to leave a slight gap when lever is pulled) Do this by loosening the locking screw on the end of the cable and turning the adjuster anti clockwise so tension is put on the cable Not the lever.
If the cable isn't adjustable from lever go down to the engine and do the same as above on the cable there.
2nd Is the clutch fluid operated (Master Cylinder on clutch lever) If so look for clutch pushrod and adjust it by loosening again the locking nut and winding it out to create less gap between pushrod and clutch arm. You may need to bleed the system if after adjusting still the same.(Come back to me on that if needed)
3rd If when carried out the clutch starts slipping i.e. in top gear Engine Rev's and doesn't move forward well? then release the tension on either cable/pushrod until happy medium.
Good Luck!
