Some positive wire must be stripped and is touching your frame or something that is grounded. It is impossible to know which wire is that from here.
You need to check your wire harness closely all the way for a stripped wire.
Especially under the fuel tank and around the steering tree.

Look at the two bolts holding the starter on if they are not straight across then its twisted. turn starter back in line with a pair of big channel locks and try to start this should do the trick if this works i would recommend taking the two bolts out and bend them back straight or replace and reinstall starter this should fixya problem

Hope this helps ...............Jimmyfixya

SOURCE: I don't understand my wiring diagram. How does the

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

If the starter relay in your version uses blue / white and red / white wires, then to my understanding, connection would be:

  • blue / white - goes to the start switch and is supplied with +12 on starting;
  • red / white - goes to the starter circuit cut-out relay. This cut-out relay controls whether the starting relay gets a ground based on neutral/gear and clutch lever conditions.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Since you have the CDI failure for the second time , it is important that the voltage parameters are checked on the bike charging system.
The CDI is equipped to handle a wide range but if there is any chance of the voltage build up being higher or containing Ac factors out of a poor rectification circuit, the CDI can be effected. So test the inputs.
Now make sure the outputs are also not shorting out, check the ignition system.
If you have made any alterations, it is an areas to recheck so as the CDI is not draining out into the new unit.
The CDI is overheating with a reason and if you have not found any such defects in the bike it will be good to send your olda nd damaged units to CDI service for review. It can be confirmed if this is a manufacturing errors for which you can even get a free replacement. make sure the ground connections are tight as well as the battery leads.

No power to 2001 yamaha 1600 road star. battery good, fuses good, starter relay good.

Hi, David and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Faulty ignition switch.
6. Faulty starter button.
7. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
8. Security alarm needs a reset.
9. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
10. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
11. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

My 2002 Toyota Tundra 4.7(V8) has an intermittent start and the battery drains overnight from 12.5V to around 10.0V. I've tested for parasitic draw and every time I test my reading is ~ .025A...

I think I would attack the drain problem first. Something has to be draining the battery, it does not have to be a steady drain. It could be something serious for 30 min in the middle of the night. You may need to pull fuses one at a time to try to narrow down the circuit. it could even be a weak component in the alternator or computer. I know you said you replaced the alternator.
If it goes down overnight, it should also go down during the day. Can you leave the meter connected and check it every hour or so ? ?
Another component that could be suspect is the key switch. I know you said you checked it, but it could be a part-time problem.
When the starter or relay clicks, I would want to know how much voltage I have at the starter post, and coming out of the key switch. Then how much at each point in between. You also have a neutral safety switch in that circuit.

Turn the key switch in the opposite direction. The key setting you have it in is so you can leave the bike parked on the side of the road with the tail light on as a warning light so no one hits your bike.

Its a solenoid...it engages the bendix and truck starts...bendix should retract because power to it gets shut off by ignition switch going to "run".

Only way bendix would stay engaged or get a signal to keep turning ???
Bad contacts in ignition switch...maybe ??
Start relay in under hood power distribution panel has hot or welded contacts ?

Question what would cause a Ariens 1340 c not to start, the starter has been replaced, battery is providing plenty of juice?

There are only three things left to check. The battery cables must be sending the battery current to the starter relay and then to the starter. That is number one is to check to make sure the battery voltage is going to the starter. The starter relay controls when the starter turns on with the key switch. So if the starter realy is not working then there will be no power at the starter when the key is in the start mode. That is number two. And finally number three. The key switch has to have power to it and out of it to the starter relay to work. Trace all of your electrical from the battery to the ignition switch, to the starter relay, and then to the starter. I am sure that you will find the problem that there is not any battery power going to one of these locations. Also make sure you check the fuse. If the fuse is blown, then your starter will not work because there will be no power at the ignition switch. Hope this helps.
