How to convert a 2005 mini adventure to a premix

My sons bike is running way to rich and i was told that i can remove the oil pump and resivior and just install a blank off cover where the oil pump goes. i just want to know if thats correct or is there more to it. i know from now on i will need to premix the oil and fuel. please help

You likely need a smaller pilot jet in the carb.

Try screwing the air screw in and out - if screwing it out seems to help then you need to change your pilot (low speed) jet. I don't have any recommendations for you as far as size, but just get one the next smaller size from what's in there now. When perfectly sized, your air screw will like to be set around 1.5-2.0 turns from seat.

This could also be a sign that you need a new ring. The rings don't last long in these bikes - you need to re-reing quite frequently. it's a very common thing. Lower compression from a worn ring will make the motor act as if it's too rich due to incomplete combustion and lower combustion temps. A worn ring will show up at lower engine speeds first- much like you describe.

If the bike is running correctly and RPM's through all the gearing range you are probably at the bikes optimum speed range with present set up as is.
If it's down on power or faltering while running we probably need to do some tuning or replacement of power components (Piston & Rings, Gaskets etc....) Check the spark plug after running and make sure it's a cocoa brown color and the jetting should be correct. Check the manual for jetting instructions if the color is off.
The simplest speed increase is gearing (requires some in-expensive parts). Easiest way is to go up one tooth on the primary sprocket and add a master or half link to the chain (if needed) to adjust the length. Would try only 1 tooth increase at a time to test.
In Oregon we many times use the stock primary sprocket when running in the mountains, up one tooth for running in the desert, and up 2 teeth on the primary when running over 100mph down in Mexico. This mostly applies to the big bikes but it's the same for the mini's.

Why Did the Vsc and check engine light come on in 2005 toyota highlander?


The converters generally fail only after the truck has been running rich. I would not replace them until certain the engine is running properly. There is no harm to the car to drive with these converters. Was there any history of rich operation codes?

Change oil


It is a 2 stroke there isn't any oil in your engine perse, basically your bike either runs premix fuel or it has a oil reservoir that injects oil in to the fuel mix. 2 strokes mix fuel and oil together in the crankcase, that is why 2 strokes are somewhat smokey. The oil that is injected or in the case of premix is what is used to lubricate the engines internals. So you won't be able to change the oil by draining it out of the engine block. If it has an oil reservoir you will need to top that up from time to time.

KTM 50 mini adventure was starting easily, had lots of power but while riding just cut out. Now when you kickstart it feels like it has no compression. i took the header off amd looked inside the exhaust...


possibly a blocked fuel filter, try laying the bike on its side then stand it upright see if that resolves the issue or is you can see a filter better to remove tubing off see if fuel runs freely

I changed the oil lines and now I need to prime the pump to get oil into the carbeuretor.


There are a couple of ways to approach this. One is to remove the spark plug and turn the engine over several times to purge the air out of the lines. Some people opt to use a little premix, where you mix about a 20 to 1 ratio of two stroke oil and gas. You only need a little, like 8 ounces max, to place in the empty gas tank. You fire the engine up and run it a few minutes on the premix, and then top off the fuel tank with fresh fuel. The premix protects the engine while the oil line purges of air.

Hi. i have a yz250 1993. i was just going around a field slowly. try to get my son the go a little faster on his cr125. then the 250 just stopped. and would not start again. took the plug out and it was...


That is the indication of an over rich mixture. The plug is now carboned up and needs a good clean or replacement before it will function again.
Was the choke by any means closed or partially closed when this happened? Is the air cleaner clean so that it is not restricting air flow or is the float not stuck so that the carburetter float level is too high in the float chamber.
Those are the normal things that would cause that condition.

The oil pump on my 1977 kawasaki ke175 went out, what do I have to do to convert the bike to a premix? And what oil/gas ratio should I use?

Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. Otherwise, just drain the oil tank and plug the end (or just remove the tank). Mix the gas and oil in the gas tank 32 to 1. That equals 4 ounces of oil per gallon of gas.

Hi, Well that is one way to look at it. Since you don't indicate the premix, the best advice I can give you is that the oil in the mixture is indeed not burning, the easiest fix being to change your premix to include less oil. There are other fixes, hotter plug, higher octane but until you ride and get comfortable with this bike, either let it drip a little or change the mix for now and change it as needed as you get used to it. Problems disconnecting oil pump so i can premix the gas instead!


from what i can remember(ihad one years ago)the ke uses disc valve,as apposed to reed valve.but the anwser is quite simple.if you dont want to remove the pump,just block the lines up with a couple of little bolts,and jubilee clip them in place to stop the engine drawing air in and weakining the mixture.

obviously theres way to much oil in the mix. Speak to your local bike shop and ask them on the best mix for the bike
