Hi MacKenzie, The gear box on your vehicle is filled from underneath the car. It will be better for you to have the filling carried out by a service center, where the correct equipment is available. If you would like to do the job yourself, the vehicles front wheels must be chocked and make sure the chocking is very secure. The engine must be warmed up. The rear end of the car should be jacked to an angle of about thirty degrees. The engine should be left running and then you go underneath. Under the gearbox molded into the oil pan you will see the recessed filler plug. The plug must be removed and the box filled from underneath. As I've said, it's a job rather left to those with the equipment. Regards John

SOURCE: 2003 BMW 325I Power Steering

when looking at the engine with the hood up, look to the right hand side for something that looks like this (#1 in the pic): http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=ET37&mospid=47720&btnr=32_0957&hg=32&fg=20

it will be black in color, but don't confuse it with the oil filter housing. power steering reservoir will have a unique cap (#2 in the pic) that can be removed with your hand. the one that has the large nut on top is the oil filter. remove the cap and put in the correct fluid.

hope this helped.

SOURCE: BMW 325i BAD transmission fluid leak/gush

i have to admit without more detail it's hard to say.... my educated guess would be that one of the hoses to the transmission cooler has blow and needs to be replaced. do NOT drive the car till that is done.

SOURCE: adding transmission fluid to 1992 BMW 525i.

On the driver side of the transmission pan there is a fill plug. The car must be in the air and level. With the car running fluid will run out of the plug hole when it is full. This is no fun without a lift.

How to add transmission fluid to 1992 325i BMW? I once read about this car having 2 pans. Can not find where the article is now. There is a ATF cap to the drivers side but it is a very short stick. One guy...

Why do you want to add it? Wipe the dipstick on clean white paper towel or cloth. If there are no leaks and the colour is still fairly bright it should be ok. If there are no leaks and the transmission is slipping it needs to go to a dealer or tranny shop.

My 94 bmw 325I transmission is slipping and not shifting properly. How can I check the fluid level and add fluid if needed? Thanks Vince M

on the drivers side of the transmission under the car is a plug similar to a rear end in the older rear wheel drive cars bmw has
a lifetime tranny fluid setup so take out the plug and fluid should drip out its right behind the shifter cable if it dosent drip out youll need a pump to put it in you can get these at advance auto

Transmission oil pan sets very low, you probably bottomed out and cracked the pan. Do not drive. Replace pan, gasket and bolts.
