SOURCE: i keep fouling my plug on my 03 rm85. oil/fuel mix is right

what color is the spark plug when you take it out? All black too rich, a chalky white look is way too lean which is far worse than a rich mixture. I blew up my CR-80 when I was a kid from an improper fuel mixture. You really have to get that correct and the dealer can give you the numbers on that. Also you might wanna get a measuring cup from a local dollar store or discount store to help you add the correct mix into the gas. You said its boggy in 1st and 2nd....how is it from 3rd up? Has the carb been jetted for possibly a different exhaust pipe or filter that aren't on the bike anymore? Or did you change those components and not jet correctly? I'm going to log this as a solution, but its borderline a clarification request....

SOURCE: suzuki intruder 800vs backing through carbs

May not be getting enough fuel, check the filtre in the fuel tank, remove fuel ****,(fuel on/ fuel off/ reserve).( has rubber o ring type gasket), could also be a kink in the fuel line, check or replace spark plug's, you also may need to test your fuel pump with meter, check out intruder alert cafe, lot's of good advice there.

Rm85 not runnin right

Hi depending on the condition of the engine components such as seals crank bearings head gasket etc. Start with cheacking the carb for water/dirt in the carb of stale fuel if the motorcycle has been sitting for some time because old gas will clog the slow speed circuit in the carb.

Motorcycle sputters and has trouble starting

My guess would be you had water in the fuel. going up the hill put the water in the floatbowls right in the pickups for the carbs and going down pulled the water away.

I have a kawasaki 300 byou 1990 moled 4X4 that i put a carberator kit in but just doesn't run right spits and sputters when i give it gas it will idle ok sometimes. drained all gas and cleaned out good....

It sounds like it is running too rich (too much fuel). First, make sure the air filter is clean and that there are no intake leaks between the carburetor and the engine. Also, try a new spark plug (they can go bad without warning). Then, with the engine at normal operating temperature and idling, adjust the idle mixture screw to attain the highest idle speed. After this, set the idle to the correct speed using the idle speed adjustment screw.
Test ride. If it still spits and sputters at half to full throttle, then you will need to get a smaller main jet - or go to a less restrictive air filter, such as one by K&N.
Finally, I am not sure what prompted you to put a carburetor kit in, but if the bike had been sitting for any lenght of time (more than 6 months) make sure the carb isn't plugged up.

Shuts off spits and sputters

Check for vacume leaks first. Rubber lines..gaskets to carbs ect. Also remove and blow out your fuel line to tank and change out filter. Hope this helps.:)

Leaking gas frm bottom and does not run right

the float may b sticking...depending on what type of carb ur running...the spit and sputter problem sounds like you are running a keean carb and if thats the case...there is a extra setting on those that is leaded in from the factory that your average joe doesnt know about...have someone familiar with this adjust it for you and that will help some ...however if itis a keean either live with it or change carbs...that spit you described is just how they operate

Spitting and sputtering

mine did the same, I found out that the high speed jet was clogged, I pulled the fuel line off the filtor(going to the carb), stuck the line into a mixture of half gas half carb cleaner, I fanned it up and in 2 or 3 minutes it started running well, hope this helps.
