KitchenAid K5SS Heavy Duty Commercial Stand Mixer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jan 03, 2009

Clicking Hi. I just received a KitchenAid Heavy Duty Plus mixer, the KSM50 series for Christmas. I am very excited. I finally used it today to make pound cake. When I whipped the eggs with the whip attachment, everything went great. But, when I began mixing the batter with the flat beater a clicking sound started. The sound matched the speed I was mixing at- at higher speeds it got faster. When I turned it off and checked the attachment, when I shook the beater back and forth it made the click sound i heard when it was going. My husband said that it was the gear, but the whipper worked fine. We then wondered if it is normal for that to happen with heavier batters? Other friends have these mixers and I have not heard them click with any batter. Suggestions? Thanks.

I have the same mixer. Make sure the bowl is firmly latched into the base. also, make sure the bowl didn't get bent in shipping. If the paddle hits at a regular timed interval, it's must likely a problem with the way the bowl seats. As long as you don't hear a loud hit verses just a click, it shouldn't be a problem, just an annoyance. In time, you will probably heat tapping when you use the wire wisk. I am glad I bought mine. I hope you enjoy the difference a good mixer makes.

No rotating movement from the mixer, only fast clicking sound after beater was lodged.

This is an excellent mixer and worthy of a professional or DIY repair.. You stripped a gear inside the mixer that is there just for that reason. Now the machine requires a tear down and replacement part. if you can post the model number we can advise on how to do it. If it is the new pro series model they cost between 4 and 5 hundred new to buy, the repair is going to cost between 80 and 100 dollars by a professional or about 30 dollars by you.

Wifey dropped her mixer this evening...Now its leaking oil...Hate to get rid of it...Would like to repair it if possible..Any suggestions ?

First thing is to determine where the leak is and if the broken part is available and replaceable. If it is the main housing I think a new mixer would be a wonderful Christmas present,

I don't know how to use the small bowl that came with the

All Kitchenaid manuals are available online at www.kitchenaid.com.

On the main page, click Customer Care in the upper-right hand corner. Then click Locate Manuals and Guides.

You will want to enter your model number exactly as it appears on the bottom of the unit. You will need to tilt the mixer gently onto its side and locate a white sticker to see this.

When entered on the website, this will pull up the Use and Care Guide (manual) and even exploded parts views if those are needed.

Beaters don't reach the bottom of the bowl

There is an adjuster on the model I own - the KSM50... It is a tiny little silver screw at the base of the motor between the screws that mount the bowl mover to the stand. Screwing to the left makes the bowl lower and turning to the right makes the bowl higher. I just adjusted mine. Note - just a slight turn can make a difference, but my screw was SO TIGHT- I had to ask my husband to do it. Plus, it is located in a difficult area for some screwdrivers to fit into. He got mine to budge and now my clearance of beater to bowl ratio is perfect.

:) Hope it works for ya,

The adjustment screw fell off

There is no adjustment screw. That should be all the way up so that it will compress the spring and lock the lift lever un the up position. You will need to put the spring, washer and then the Nylock nut back on, I use a standard socket with some paper wadded in the bottom and over one side to hold the nut it it while I screw it back on.

KitchenAid 325 Heavy Duty Stand Mixer runs with low power & clicking noise

well there is a couple of things to try
1. see if kitchenaid sells the motor or
2. if a local appliance parts store can get the motor
this is the only thing you can do about the motor , the wires in the motor are shot and it will need reconstructing in the wireing, that is why it won't run fast and strong , because the wires have been heated up to much and now they can't create a strong enough magnetic field
but to replace the motor shouldn't be to hard just a little patience
if you need any more help just let me know!
