Question about Motorcycles
Have a1993HondaShadow Stopped at store an won't start, nothing will work.Lights horn Etc.
First check the main fuse, then battery connections, then check battery for voltage, ignition switch. If your battery went dead you need to check the charging system.

SOURCE: Rocket 3 wont start. dials dead
Lift the tank. Underneath it you'll find a plastic connector block joining loads of wires together. Turn the ignition on and push this connector block together, or twist it around a bit. If the ignition sequence starts, it'll be because the wires in the connector block are corroded. Moving the block sometimes makes a temporary fix, but ultimately it'll happen again until the block or the wiring harness ideally, is replaced.

To begin with, I'd have that battery load tested to see if it's any good. I've seen brand new batteries that were bad. It it checks OK, check all the connections that go to the battery. Be especially attentive to the smaller wires that attach to it. I've seen battery acid eat the wire out of the insulation leaving the insulation intact and the wire appeared fine. If the wire bends too easily, be suspect. If the wires have the "crimp on" connectors, make sure they're tight. Your problem sounds like a bad connection somewhere.

SOURCE: Cut speedo off, now electric
Did you checked the wires under the horn push button. Are the wires loose, is there voltage to the horn wires. Also connect the horn wires directly to each other and see, is the horn honking.-------
If not it can be short is wires. Also check for any blown fuses in the air cleaner box.
This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Check the main fuse.It is a flat fuse (30a) and plugs into the top of the starter solenoid. There should be a spare fuse on the rubber solenoid mount. Remove the fuse out. Then wait for 5 minutes and then reinsert the fuse back. Its on the start relay near battery on red cable, two screws hold it in.The fuse box should be located under the seat by the battery. The fuse IS required in order to start it, because the current that runs to the starter button and then to the solenoid coil DOES run through the fuse. So if the fuse is dead, your starter will be dead. ------------So check the fuse if its bad, blown, shorted then replace the fuse. But if the fuse is fine then remove it for 5 minutes then reinsert it.----------
This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Hey, When that happened to me I took the bike half apart and it ended up being the Kill switch. Try rocking it back and forth also if you have contact cleaner flood the switch and let it dry then give it a light spray of wd-40. also check the start switch to be sure it is making contact, bike is in Neutral and the kick stand switch is also working.
