Question about Motorcycles

1 Answer

My Yamaha 225 moto4 starts but can not get better than an idle to happen then stalls.

Checked the keyway, found okay, cleaned carb, and now think should check the valves. Anyone got any better ideas?

How long was the moto4 sitting? and did you pay close attention to the low speed jet that it is not blocked, the most common problem is the carb if the unit has been sitting for long period of time and the small jet will be blocked so you need to make sure its clear.

were is the low speed jet located? Thought I'd cleaned carb well, even let it soak in a reducer for a day to try and remove any old gas varnish

Also been getting harder to start for some time, only starts with pull not quite with electric.

After carefull recleanig still runs briefly then dies, anyone know what the setting should be for the low speed jet?

SOURCE: Strange thigs about YAMAHA TW 125

Hi
I have been working on my carb today, the pipe from the bottom of the carb should just run down by the bottom of the swinging arm, there should be another pipe from the pipe on the left side of the carb just above the fuel intake which also runs down to the swinging arm and connect to nothing.
Cheers

SOURCE: Hard starting of a yamaha ttr 225 after sitting

I had a similar problem with my TTR 125. I removed the carb, removed the float bowl and gave a a careful clean. I also removed the choke plunger mechanism and gave that a few shots of penetrating lube oil. The choke mechanism works much smoother as a result.
Just those two simple things and my bike fired up right away.

SOURCE: 2002 suzuki LS 650 running lean at higher speeds, (off idle)

this prob happens allways in carburated engines that the car or motorcycle is running lean or rich . because the air - fuel mixture ratio is not right . so you should open the carburator and remove the air filter you will find two screws in the lower front section of your caeburator. you can adjust them by a screw driver until your car is smooth

Starts but wont idle

Your pilot air jet is blocked. The carb will need a very thorough internal clean, if you can get it into an ultrasonic bath for cleaning that would be best.

What to do when your quad stops in the middle of a water hole?

Need to get pulled out and there should be a drain hose under the air filter is a plug at the end of the hose pull out the plug. That would be a start. If water got in the carb, you might have to take out a plug at the bottom to drain also. Check inside airfilter to make sure it is dry. Hope this helped!

Start by removing and cleaning the carb, it may not need any parts.
also change the oil, fit new air filter, new spark plug, and check the valve clearances

Yamaha tt-r 225 backfires, no idle without choke on, acts like bad gas but changed the gas, carburator problem? will run but must be revved at all times or engine dies

You carb needs to be removed, completley disassembled, and soaked in a quality carb cleaning solution, overnight. The bad fuel has gummed up your carbs internal passageways

Remove, dissemble and clean the carb. Check the rubber diaphragm for cracks, pinholes and poor seal at the gasket. Install a new spark plug, clean the air filter. The high idle is caused by a lean fuel mixture. Outside air is entering the mix. Look at the rubber "O" ring on the carb joint. Check for cracks and hardening of the ring. Your carb will have a plug or a hose at the front edge of the carb joint. Check the plug / hose and clip. Check for cracks in the plug / hose and hardening. Check the entire length of the hose if a hose is present. Please rate my answer. Thanks! tombones49_43.gif

G'day, sounds a bit like the float valve in the carby might be stuck nearly shut or just some moisture in the carby, a light tap with the handle of a screwdriver on the side of the carby bowl should fix it if it's the needle stuck shut (happens from sitting sometimes), or maybe try loosening the drain screw in the bottom of the carby bowl to drain any water etc out, hope this helps :)
