i dont want to wait til it tears my bike up. thought maybe there was a maintenance time

  • Michael Green Oct 28, 2012

The thermostat controls the movement of coolant in the engine. It opens at a set temperature and allows the engine to run at the best temperature. If it fails shut you will notice the temp gauge go into the "RED". this means it has failed. They don't fail very often. It can't "Tear your bike up".

It should be changed when it is broken! You should CHECK it at each Major servicing at least.

SOURCE: I cannot get all four

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
You may just have system failure. As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive battery connector and let it sit for atleast 5mins. before reconnecting it.
This will reset the electrical system in your bike then try to turn the idle screw if it will respond.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
