SOURCE: Lost ignition switch

test each of the wires on a ground. you are going to need two toggels and a pos neg to each. you are going to have to play around with the combo on them but one swith will have to stay on to start the bike and keep it running while the other switch will be on to start the bike the turned off to keep it running without having the starter always going.

Could I put a toggle switch in my car instead of a ignition switch in a 2001 Chevy cavalier? What all dose a toggle switch require to work? What dose it all need to connect to?

On vehicles that have several control modules connected by serial data circuits, one module is the Power Mode Master, PMM. On this vehicle the PMM is the BCM. The PMM receives 2 signals from the ignition switch.
To determine the correct power mode the PMM uses the following circuits:
?€¢
Accessory voltage

?€¢
Ignition 1 voltage

Have a 97 honda. Just purchased. It has a toggle switch installed that works with original key ignition. That said... toggle controls whole electrical..everything works..except tail lights, and the dash...

So If I understand, you turn on toggle and then use key to engage starter? Do brake lights and turn lights work, just not the running lights? Or are all tail lights dead. If none work, juice is not getting to the headlamp switch. Best fix would be to replace the probably bad ignition switch and repair wiring back to original, but quick fix would be to run a second wire from toggle switched side to the headlamp switch +

Key ignition

Dont do it! There are too many things going on in your switch to change to a toggle switch ... I am presuming you are on a road bike.

If you are on a kick start dirt bike - no battery, no lights, no brake lights even, and you have a magneto system, all you have to do is break the circuit between the mag and the coil - that is where you put the toggle.

If you have a battery/alternator/rectifier, you are asking for pain.

Do you have a toggle switch or button in the system ? If you do put the ignition key in the ON postion and switch toggle in opposite direction. It might now be in the VALET mode

Multiple switches/multiple amplifiers

All the amps should be wired directly to the battery, with a toggle switch on each of them. most amplifiers have a SWITCH wire as well, shich is usually wired to your ACC wire on the stereo. instead, run each SWITCH wire to a positive wire through the toggle switch. If done right, you should be able to run each amp on a separate circuit and can turn them on or off as you wish.

Nope, sorry just the toggle switch. You can also look up a peripheral TR-7. Thats a universal trigger by pass module. Saves you from doing the toggle switch all the time
