Question about 2010 Harley Davidson FLSTF Softail Fat Boy
I have a 2010 Fatboy lo FLSTFB and the tail light went out but brake light still worked. Then the brake light stopped working now the starter only turns over half the time.@
Hi, Laynebk tail light issues are relatively easy to diagnose and repair always check the tail light fuse first and make sure you have power on both sides of the fuse holder and the usual suspects are:
1. Tail light bulb element is broken.
2. Tail light bulb soldered contacts are extremely worn down.
3. Tail light bulb socket corroded.
4. Tail light bulb socket has no power and or ground.
5. Tail light wiring harness damaged from the rear tire.
6. Tail light rear fender wiring harness connector faulty due to corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets.

Check to make sure BOTH light filaments are intact. Or try another bulb to double check the situation before wasting to much time on a simple fix.

SOURCE: Tail light problems
Probably because it blows immediately because the short is now a dead short. The hot wire is completely against the ground not just rubbing. Has the car been hit in the back at any time? Look underneath and see if any wires are hanging down.around the tail light area. Your looking for a wire that is rubbing against metal . Could be inside the trunk behind the covers .
God Bless Greg
