There should be an allen key screw at the top of your stem. sometimes there is a plastic cap on top of the screw head, if so you should be able to pry it off to get to the screw. get the right sized allen key, loosen it, true the stem to your wheel and tighten it back up

SOURCE: Iw ould like to raise the handle bars on my wifes

Most likely you have a threaded headset on your wifes bikes. Many times you will have to replace some of the cables and housing because they will be too short once the handlesbars are raised.

If you have a treadless headset than raising your handlebars is very simple. First check to see what type of headset you have. A threadless system with have a allen head on the very top of the stem and one or two more allen head bolts on the side of the stem. The threaded system will usually have only one bolt on the very top of the stem. It is sometimes covered by some type of cap. Also on threaded headsets, there will be a large nut under the stem, which is what most people mistakenly loosen to adjust the stem. Do not touch this nut, it will adjust the headset. Same goes for the allen head on the treadless headset, it will also adjust the headset so don't touch it.
So if you have a threaded stem, simply loosen the allen head or nut on the top of the stem and raise the stem up. Make sure you do not go above the max line and that you are still able to turn the handlebars freely.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: how do you hire the handle bars on a giant

Hello. You will need an adjustable wrench. Then look at the center of the handlebars and you will see a bolt and a nut. Usually the nut is on the underside. Loosen the nut, raise the handle bars and retighten the nut. J.

Raise handlebars on mountain bicycle

This will depend on what sort of stem you have. Most mountain bikes these days use a clamping style stem that simply grips the steerer tube on the fork. Some will have limited adjustment in that they may have a stack of 2 or 3 spacers that you can place either over the stem or below the stem. This does not give much adjustment. On my wife's bike the stem is actually adjustable similair to this: MEC 110mm Adjustable Stem Mountain Equipment Co op
and might be a good option for this bike.

Alignment of front wheel and handlebars on a trek bike

Ok this will amuse you but......
Take a broom handle and place it along saddle in line with top tube. Align stem and front wheel with this and tighten everything up.....plus this aligns your saddle.
True story. I was helping to put bike together for bro that owns shop. I left my laser at home and he says "broom alignment"....jeez it's brilliant. I have used it ever since as it keeps wheel stem top tube and saddle in perfect line.
Hope this helps

Girls 24inch glacierpoint magna bike can't raise handle bars seems like a allen type screw in middle of bar just turns and still can't lift bar does that need to be replaced or is it something else

If that allen screw just turns both directions, and it won't tighten and it won't raise up when you loosen it, then the wedge nut at the other end of that screw has already fallen off inside. Or it could mean that the screw is broken. Turn the bike upside down and see if you can remove the screw. If it is broken, the repair will be difficult, but not impossible for a bike mechanic. If the screw comes out intact, then the only thing holding the handlbar stem in place is a bit of rust. Put the bike back upright. Stand over the bike as if you were going to ride it. Grip the front wheel between your knees and twist the handlebars as if you were steering while preventing the wheel from turning with your knees. Once it breaks free, pull it all of the way out. Turn the bike over again and the wedge nut should fall out. When you reassemble, take heed of the marking on the handlebar stem so that you don't raise the stem too high. Good luck. No, but a bike shop can assist you in selecting and fitting a stem with a higher rise.

How to raise the handle bars? I have been able to loosen the screws, but that only allows the handle to turn freely from front the wheel, not to raise it.

CAREFUL!!!! Go to a professional bike shop and let them see if you have enough stem (about 21/2" to 3") in the top tube. Less than that and it can snap off and you can get seriously hurt. More than likely, if they can raise it, you would only pay a minumum charge (not like a car, probably $5-$10)
It will be more if they have to install a new stem, because it involves taking it apart and putting it back together. But, it will be worth it if you like the bike other than it is not comfortable now. Remember, it is not made to be a cruiser which let you sit upright and are comfortable, Supension bikes are for mountain biking and rough terrain, going downhill and climbing. And you usually ride a smaller frame than normal because of how you ride the bike, too big and you lose control. So, the bars are almost always flat and you lean forward. I hope I answered your question, I have been in business for almost 40 years and do know what I am talking about.

I have a 954 that is wrecked and needs forks from what im told is that there is no difference in the 929 fork and the 954 forks is this true

It probably is true. Honda makes the same part for many bikes, bearings, etc. Go to Babbittsonline.com and compare part numbers of the steering stem on both bikes. Go to online microfiche, or parts diagrams and compare front ends with part #s. If the bearings are the same and steering stem is the same it will fit. Check the handle bars too. Chaz Moto DC

I fell on my bike and the handlebars and stuck to the right side.

Depending on the bike, you will most likely have a nut at the top of handlebar stem or two socket screws at the side of the stem that grip the front fork. In either case you need to loosen them slightly, reposition the handle bars and then tighten up. Quite often however if you stand in front of the bike with your legs on either side of the front wheel and turn the handle bars their is enough slip to move them back. Be carefull you dont strain anything if you dont back the threads off.
