You mean there is no drain plug but a tube that connects to the crank case.

Under the back of the primary. either feel around or look under the primary and you will see it. Sportsters use the same fluid for the trans and primary.

How do i drain the oil on a 1993 sportster 883 hugger

Harley has changed the location of the oil drain on Sportsters so many times it's hard to keep up with. Look on the left hand side down low on the frame behind the primary. The hose simply plugs onto a stub on the frame.

Good Luck

Why does gears 1 and 5 work normal but 2 thru 4 has a grinding metal sound? sounds pretty bad.Does the trans. have a separate oil resevoir? 2004 883 sportster

Yes the primary case-transmission require it's own oil as the lubricant for this area is not provided by the engine oil. There is a drain plug located at the lower point of the case. Remove the plug and drain any oil that may be in the primary case. When finished, add one quart of oil to the case through the access hole at the top of the primary case where you check the tension on the primary chain.

Good Luck

How do u change oil on a 1993 883 sportster? what weight oil ?

Look on the left side of the bike just below the battery. You'll see a hose that either has a plug in it or one that is plugged onto the frame. Take this hose lose and the oil will drain. Refill with three quarts of 20W50 oil that meets H-D specs.

Wheres the oil drain plug oh 883?

The exact location of the oil drain on a Sportster depends on the year model. But, in general, the oil drain is a hose that is plugged onto the frame or a hose with a plug in it on the left side of the bike. It is somewhere, depending on year, between the bottom of the battery tray and bottom of the frame behind the rearmost end of the primary cover.

Where is my drain plug located on my 2006 sporster 883 for motor oil

Look on the left side of the bike below the battery box. They've changed them over the years but you'll see a large diameter hose that either has a plug in it or it is simply plugged onto the frame. If you pull the hose off the frame, be ready with something to catch the oil with.

Good luck

Not just changing oil, but is there gear oil to change, 1988 Harley 883 XL Sportster

Yes, there is oil in primary and transmission of your Sporty. To drain the oil, look for the drain plug on bottom of rear section of the primary area, back near the large round section of the primary. Drain the oil here and replace the plug. Add the oil at the top primary chain inspection port, large plug with a large "screwdriver" slot or two small bolts in it. Add 32-36 ounces of H-D "primary lubricant for Sportsters".

How do you drain the engine oil on a 2001 883 sportster? Can not find drain plug.

look on the left side of the bike back underneath the battery. You'll find a large diameter hose back there with either a plug in it or the hose connects to the frame. It will have one of those spring type hose clamps on it. Take this hose off and drain the oil out of the tank.
