Where is the abs control module located on a 02 chevy avalanche ?

The ABS control module also kept running. Deal quoted 900 for the part. I also pulled the fuse and the dealer said it would not affect the braking besides the ABS not functioning. Module keeps running until fuse is removed. Dealer quoted $1700.00 to replace module. Why does one have to replace the whole thing? Is there a sensor or something else to replace?
