the abs engine is always on when i turn off my chevy avalanche. what can i do to solve this problem.

  • Anonymous Feb 07, 2009

The ABS control module also kept running. Deal quoted 900 for the part. I also pulled the fuse and the dealer said it would not affect the braking besides the ABS not functioning. When you pull the fuse the ABS light stays on and the Brake light also illuminates.

Module keeps running until fuse is removed. Dealer quoted $1700.00 to replace module. Why does one have to replace the whole thing? Is there a sensor or something else to replace?

  • Anonymous Mar 27, 2009

There is a recall on 2002 Chevy ABS. Check into it as it may be as simple as removing & cleaning, etc. the sensors.

If i remove the abs fuse- and the abs light comes on as well as the red brake lights on the dash board - can i still safely drive my truck in traffic without indangering others--need to fix i know however to find out mechanics wants $150 to look at and repair parts are astronomical--though times however will fix eventually

ABS Module Pump ran continuously. Laid under Avalanche looked up along frame and found Module. Unplugged Module. Quit running. Now ABS light stays on; Traction Assist Light stays on, which is also part of Tow-Haul system. Brakes are fine, no problem. Just lights stay on. Easier fix than replacing $1,000 Module.

What is the C0265 error code

The ABS EBCM anti-lock brake module is failing causing problems with the ABS pump running constantly, also will drain your battery.
  1. Remove the ABS fuse to prevent ABS motor burn out.
  2. You can still drive your vehicle with the module removed.
  3. We recommend covering the exposed surface of the hydraulic control unit with aluminum foil to keep out water and dirt.
Common Failures:
  • ABS Pump Always Running
  • Codes: C0265, C0267, C0268
  • Pump Motor Circuit trouble code
  • Power Relay trouble code
  • Valve Relay Trouble code
  • Dump Valves (solenoids) trouble codes

Take it an have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . With warning light's on DTC'S are set in the ABS control module , the air bag control module ,PCM - engine computer or transmission control module . No guessing here ! Test an check

Constant running under hood after engine is shut off. It's on drivers side rear of fuse block?

That is likely your abs pump motor that is still running. The fix is to replace the abs control module in that same location(black box).

2003 chevy avalance a/c blower moter runs with ignition shut off

If you have the automatic climate control and the blower motor won't shut off then you have a failing Blower motor speed control module. Something inside this module goes bad and the result is a blower motor that keeps running at times even though the engine is off and the key is out of the ignition. The module isn't repairable but has to be replaced. I believe it is located behind the passenger side of the dash panel.

My 2002 Chevy Avalanche starts briefly then turns off What could be the problem?

Possible bad engine crank sensor. Electronic Control Module provides initial timing for start then depends on the crank sensor once started for timing and firing

Abs light is on

Locate and pull the ABS pump fuse located in the power distribution center under the hood and CHECK IT TO SEE IF THE FUSE IS BAD. Basically you are looking for a fuse box with large amperage fuses and some relays. Look along the fender well in the engine compartment relatively close to the battery. It is a 60 amp fuse in most instances and should be clearly labeled "ABS" in the large fuse box with other similarly oversize fuses used for other high power subsystems.
All ABS systems are designed so that the solenoid valves in the ABS brake manifold are in safety "bypass" mode when powered down or when the ABS control module has been removed. You will have standard everyday power brakes no different than brakes built without the ABS system.

The ABS system will perform a self check once you exceed 5 MPH and the "ABS" and "brake" lamps should turn off. During this test, the controller runs the pump motor and briefly operates all of the valves. This ABS "self-test" is performed every time you start and drive.

EBCM is short for "Electronic Brake Control Module" It is the advanced computer than controls the electric motor pump and valves of your ABS system.  Burnout of the motor is very rare however. A MOSFET transistor in the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) has failed, can cause the pump not to perform.

Pump motors generally do not fail, but when they do, the culprit is usually worn-out brushes or corroded electrical connections. In a worst-case scenario, your motor is beyond repair. It is bolted directly to the hydraulic assembly- a cast aluminum brake fluid distribution hub with 5 or 6 brake lines branching off of it and wiring harness.

I hope this helps before you get your hands to dirty. In short check all the electrical connections first. Try running a hot wire to the pump motor first to see if it runs and if it does, then it's not the motor and could be a easier fix by changing the (EBCM).

2002 chevrolet avalanche abs light on

Hello, I see you are having abs problems. The electronic brake control module has shorted out internally keeping the anti lock brake motor running. You will want to take your vehicle to a certified dealer for this repair, because this module may or may not have to be programmed to your specific model. Please rate this answer, Thank you
