Question about 2001 Suzuki AN 400 Burgman

Misfire My AN400 starts and runs fine. When I turn the indicators on the bike periodically dies. This also happens if I am riding and turn the lights on or press the horn. Sometimes the bike doesn't completely die but chuggs along as if its being starved of electric power. Please help me if you can. Simon

hello,I have an electrical problem with my bike. Only neutral light works, no horn, no lights, nothing. I measured the battery and it was 12,72. I checked and cleaned all fuses and everything seem to be fine. I removed tank and fainings and all cables were ok. This is the first time I am dealing with something like this and it doesn't make any sense. I finally started the bike with a srew driver from the starter relay and the instead of reading 0 miles and rpm the indicates were blinking. also when i press the first gear it dies. please some help. Thanks !

Hi ..... Do you have access to a multi meter ? Place across the battery, when bike is running and you should display 13.2 - 14volts. Sounds like a dying battery (dead cell ?), lack of charging or elctrics shorting to earth .............. go for the first two first.
Good Luck.

Cutting out while riding

I have a bike that at one time I'd be riding along, and the motor would die, and all lights and instrument go out, as if I turn it off with the key.

Turn key off, back on, and all would be fine until the next time.

It turned out to be a bad ignition switch.

I have an 05 with the same problem. Sounds like your STVA went out. Do you still have your butterflies wired open? I know how to repair the stva fixed mine, and saved hundreds....if your still on this post email me so we can get our bikes fixed. also check your kick stand sensor! This can malfunction and cause same stalling problems.

Operating light, indicators or brakes causes

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, check / clean the connectors of the charging system; from stator to rectifier/regulator combo to battery. Preliminary suspect would be undercharging hence any additional electrical load robs the ignition power causing the misfire..

Offhand, use a voltmeter to test idling voltage and charging voltage. Postback results.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
