Question about 2003 Suzuki GZ 125 Marauder

1 Answer

Gear Selecting Suzuki Marauder GZ125Y 2001, while driving it yesterday it went up the gears to 5th ok, but when comming down it got to 4th then felt like it wasn`t responding to the shifter, tried to tap it to as low a gear as possible while slowly moving along, rode it back home and checked the cable , it is ok, also checked the foot leaver and it also ok, 13500 on clock, so don`t know wether it is the clutch or the gear selector inside the gear box. When trying to shift into gears it dosen`t respond, very worrying on my part as don`t know the cause, could you please help or advise. Thank you, Bob.

It might be your gears which are worn out and causing gear slips.. but there is high probability of your clutch plates getting spoilt.. the clutch plated work as disengaging the gears shaft to the main engine shaft.. sometimes when the clutch plates are very much use enough..,they stop working and cant retain to disengage the gears.. so first of all get your clutch checked well and then preoceed if it doesn't fix your problem.. heyii there is a shaft coming ut of the engine crank that connects to your transmission shaft which drives your gears and hence wheels.. so your 2nd gear must have worn out and for that reason the gear isn't working well.. get your gear box opened and check the gear.. Belated Merry X-mas and Happy New Year [:)]

I too have this problem but the pinch bolt has been looked at.i have problems selecting gears when in motion. it is like the gear siffter is stuck

I would look for a linkage problem. Some Suzuki bikes have 2 clamps on the linkage, The second can be seen from under the bike only.

I have a 2001 Suzuki 800 Marauder motorcycle. when it gets warmed up after a long ride. When I turn it off, restart it and put it in 1st gear it stops the motor. what,s causing this.

Many of the Suzuki's including Boulevard, Intruder and others have cut off switches in the kick stand. As long as the stand is down the engine will die when shifted into neutral.

Selecting 3rd gear

Do you mean you can\'t find 3rd gear or it won\'t shift into 3rd gear? If you can\'t find 3rd gear, shift all the way down to neutral, then shift up 2 clicks. On my Suzuki Boulevard S-50 (VS-800) the shift order is 1st gear down, then up for neutral, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Your crotch rocket probably also has a 6th. If the problem is that it won\'t shift into 3rd, then you had best take it to the shop as it is not readily repairable without specialized tools and knowledge.

Bmw r1150 gs gearbox

Hi, Gary you may need to overhaul your transmission shifting forks and or drum for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. Both the 1995 and the 2003 RM250's have 5 speed transmissions. You will have to split the cases to see why the machine will not shift into fifth gear. You probably have a bent shift fork, an nick in the shift drum, or a damaged gear interlocking pins. http://www.bikebandit.com/1995-suzuki-rm250s/o/m6597#sch263330

Noisy 5th gear

but no there was definitely a loud whirring noise in 5th gear sort of like a very noisy bearing. The bike still ran in 5th but it was definately becomming increasingly noisy. When I changed down to 4th the noise went away even if I slowed to the rev range I had been cruising in 5th. Same story with the other gears, but the noise returned with a vengence in 5th. Needless to say I rode the rest of the way home in avoiding 5th. Any ideas? I suppose I'm looking at a gearbox strip? Could the noise be anything else? ,Had a similar issue with my 1000S, only 5th gear was noisy - a sound like a dry bearing -other gears were silent. Bike had done 70,000kms and serviced correctly. Had Barry from IME check it out. Turned out to be both 5th gears needed replacing - looked like the case hardening on the gear faces was eroding and pitting. New gears went in and the box properly shimmed and happy to say 6000 kms later all still silent in the gearbox department. Plus the added benefit of slicker gear changes.,,,
