2005 Triumph Daytona 955i Dead Battery and Check engine Light

I was riding my Daytona the other day and the speedometer started blinking and eventually dissappeared altogether and the bike started bucking. The check engine light came on as well. So i pulled over and the battery died, unable to startup again, I spent a couple hours charging up the battery using a battery charger and a power inverter and friends car. I was able to turn the bike back on and it was fine, except for the check engine light, so I drove it back home and threw the battery on a charger for a trickle charge.
I installed the battery today and it starts and runs fine. But the check engine light is still on.
**Also, after I installed the battery, the speedometer, temp, clock, tripometer turned off and on(just like when you first turn the bike on and the computer initializes), I found that it happened everytime the bike was tilted left or right abruptly, but never turned off/on when the bike was upright and not moved. So i shut it off and turned it back on and now it seems fine, I jolted the bike and its not turning off/on.

The bike runs fine, just the check engine light.
~7k miles.
New Air filter
Oil changed religously.

Any thoughts. Any suggestions for diagnostic tools(I'm sure some are better than others). thanks.

I have just found my 30 amp fuse blown on my daytona , this prevents the alternator working , it was reading 10.9v before I changed the 30 amp fuse , now it reads 14.5 volts , I think I blew it as I didnt know how to put the alarn into service mode and left the ignition on , anyway I am hoping its just that , 3 heat up/cool down cycles and the engine management light should go out

Hi your bike is showing an engine problem that was recorded by the ECU data. If you do not have a problem you should run engin till fan will cat in and that should clear the foult how ever be aware that you might have a week battery that will show a full charge but internal capasity is low and problem might show again or regulator problem. If you have regulator problem you should run a bike and check with multimeter output of the battery it should be around 14.5v at 4000 pr.

Hi, Shannon you need to put the switch between the main circuit breaker/fuse and the light circuit fuse/breaker to do this you need a wiring diagram that you can find in the back of your service/owners manual if you can not find the first and best tool you ever bought for your bike, despair not, I have found one for you that costs eight dollars. My triumph Daytona 955i has developed a flat spot between 2000/3000 rpm. tick over is fine and no problems at high speeds, everything is standard spec.

Hi, Brian and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition and leaking.
3. Spark plug gap too close or too wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module, and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
7. Intermittent short circuit due to damaged wire insulation.
8. Intake air leak.
9. Water, dirt, or rust in the fuel system, fuel pump and/or filter.
10. Faulty fuel pressure regulator
11. Pinholes in the in tank plastic convoluted tubing from the pressure regulator to the quick disconnect check valve.
12. Fuel tank vent system plugged.
13. Throttle body controls misadjusted.
14. Damaged throttle body or intake seals.
15. Loose, dirty, or corroded ignition module connector at crankcase.
16. Faulty MAP, CKP, O2, and/or CMP sensors.
17. Incorrect valve timing.
18. Weak or broken valve springs.
19. Damaged intake or exhaust valve.

Headlight not working on a 2002 triumph 955i any suggestions

Hi, Rhonda if your headlight is not working, keeps burning out, blinking, or is dim the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket.
2. Worn, chaffed, or broken wires in the light circuit.
3. Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors.
4. Faulty hi/lo beam switch.
5. Faulty ignition switch.
6. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides.
7. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.
8. Weak charging alternator/generator.
9. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier, overcharging.

Something under the seat started burning and the battery went dead and the engine light came on

This sounds like regulator rectifier, remove and replace dammaged parts, also main fuse located at starter solenoide

My 2003 955i Daytona speedometer was working fine, last night, the readout just started showing ''0'' regardless of speed. Is there a sensor disconnected/broken and where is that located?

The speed sensor is located in the front wheel. Follow the cable down to the axle. Please post the solution or problem if your figure this out. I been ride for a year now with the same problem. I've not had the time to check out the problem yet myself.
