Try backing the fuel screw on the bottom of the carb out to about three turns out from lightly seated.if this doesnt help or you see no change bump your pilot jet up probally about one to two sizes

Change headligth bulb

Do you have the fairing on your bike? if so you have to remove the harness clips from behind the forks then pop off the rubber gasket around the bulb, then release the metal clips then pull the backing of the bulbs out, dont handle the new bulbs by the glass or they will blow from the un even heating of the natural oils in your fingers. If you have the front light pod with no fairing then remove the pod from the bracket and the bulb should remove from the back! hope this helsp!

I am trying to replace the fork seals on my 2001 Xr 200 honda and i cant get at the stupid seals. how do u seperate the 2 peice's of pipe/forks after the springs are out. the stupid manual says you pull...

I always change the seals without taking the sliders out of the bottom legs.
If you look at the bottom you will see a bolt that holds the two together

Just bought a 2001 WR 426. Has an FMF pipe, no air box lid. Main is a #165 and pilot is a #42.these are stock jets according to shop manual. My elevation is 2500-3000 Ft. Any ideas on jetting?

Hard to give accurate info with out seeing the bike with jetting but I would suggest take a reading from the fuel air screw if the bike running better with the fuel air screw in carbi at 2.5 turns out or more then definitely increase pilot jet up 1 or 2 sizes if you get the bike to run well between one - two turns out on the fuel air screw that is where your jetting should be
I wouldn't be concerned with main jet at all - it should be fine for wide open throttle unless you feeling power loss when you open it right up
also if you are getting backfire or popping when de accelleration that also hints toward lean pilot so a size or two change in pilot jet would be worth trying

I don,t not how to check oil level on my 650r honda 2001

To check your oil on your 2001 XR650L you need to run the motor for 5 minutes. Then pull the dipstick on the frame neck , wipe it off, reinsert the dip stick without screwing it in, pull it back out and look at the level. it should be between the high and low marks. Only use JASO MA certified motorcycle oil . Do not use any oil that says Energy Conserving on the label. It will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. Synthetic oil will help your bike run cooler and shift easier.

Where do you check the oil on 2001 honda xr 650

To get an accurate reading on your oil level , you have to start the motorcycle engine and run it for a at least 5 minutes longer if it is cold outside . A short drive works good. Then unscrew the dipstick on the frame above the tank , wipe it off , make sure the bike is level (upright) and put the dipstick back in till it seats(but do not screw it in). Now take it out and read the level. Top up as necessary but do not over fill. Use only JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. 10w-40 for cooler climates. 20w-50 for warmer conditions. Any oil that says Energy conserving on the label will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. Synthetic oil help your bike run cooler and shift easier. 0w40 Amzoil runs great in my 1996 XR 400 Honda.

Nx 650 dominator rims and tubeless tyres

If the hubs and sprocket locations are the same, then you could change it no problem.I personally found that there is little or no advantage having one or the other, except that if the wheel combination of tyre and rim is lighter, then your handling will benefit marginally for obvious reasons.

If you go bigger on the rim, you lose out slightly on acceleration, but improve your MPG or you could simply compensate by going up a tooth or two on your back sprocket.

As far as your long outback trek, I would recommend using a tube as if you have a problem with the tyre or rim, you can get stuck with no way to pump it up.Whatever you decide, I recommend taking a spare tube , puncture repair kit.

Hope this helps, and good luck on your trip.

the countershaft seal can be pried out easily, just dont do much damage to seal surfaces(on the motor).

as to your jetting problem, put the clip on the main needle back to "stock".

and buy several "main"jets,larger,and,smaller.
"jet-tests"MUST be done after a high-speed test(check sparkplug color,should be "tan")

poping, most all the time (on bikes)is caused by an air-leak somewhere along the exhaust system,

ALSO,when you change:
--it's a GIVEN to re-jet the carb!!
