Hello, the answer to solve this problem is to take it to your nearest chrysler dealer and have them re-flash the updates to the ecu....since 2004, chrysler has had about 4-5 new updates since the date they were manufactured....you need to have the update that followed from your date of man. on your vehicle....They attempted to flash mine to the latest update and didnt work, turns out that they need the re-flash from back when...in order to get the gauage to stop fluctuating.....Hope this helps!!

more likely the fuel gauge in the dash is the problem, you can check this by taking the rear seat out to get to the fuel sending unit, then disconnect the connector while you have the ignition on and see if it change.
if it changes the sender is bad, if it doesn't the cluster is bad.

there are 4 wires at the sender - and 3 wires for the vapour sensor-the two heavier wires are for the pump and the lighter wires are for the guage-the lighter purple wire should have 5 volts on it-if not you may have a wire or computer problem-th guage is an input to the pcm(computor) under the hood and then is transmitted via comm. line to the cluster-if the rest of the guages work in the cluster you need to look at the pcm or wiring to the tank

There is a sending unit inside of the gas tank that has gone bad. It is difficult to replace.

Is this a problem that just started after getting gas? Or has the issue been a problem no matter where you get you gas from and no matter how many time you have filled up your gas tank? Because sulfur levels in gas can make you gas gauge now work if they are to high.
