Please help with the problem

I have the above product in my '05 motorhome & it is an over the counter convection microwave oven. It shuts off after 59 seconds & I have to hit the start again for remaining time or another 59 seconds. I've had the motorhome since new & the only problem with the oven. Thank you, Gary R Whaler

Worked with the new damper motor but damper stays open , how do you know it is in the right position when you install it?

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, most likely the switch, but it may also be the motor or the damper door. The damper is a door located on the right side of the innards. The damper closes and opens depending on cooking mode. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find an exploded view by entering your model number here: http://www3.sears.com You can order parts from Tritronincs at http://www.wehaveparts.com

Sharp microwave r1870 only runs for 59 seconds

If it consistently runs for exactly 59 seconds, and shuts off, it's probably the control panel.

If it runs approximately that length of time, you might have a defective thermal protector on the magnetron, or the magnetron is running too warm for some reason.

The microwave shuts off after 59 seconds. You can push the START button and it will start again but shut off after 59 seconds. The convection oven component does the same thing.

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, either the switch or motor or the damper door may be binding.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp models stop after 59 seconds.

See the attached sample drawing for a typical damper assembly.

We have the applicable service manuals for these models and have uploaded them to our site here, here and here to help you.

If a switch is all you need, we offer a universal type for only $5 postpaid which you can order here.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Amana OTR Convection Microwave runs 59 seconds and shuts off

This sounds like either a thermistor or a damper switch/motor problem.
Amana's technical support line is 866-426-2621. This is the commercial side but they should be able to get you in touch with the domestic side.

Shuts off after 59 seconds

That would be a problem in the damper aseembly, either a bad switch or motor, or the damper door is jammed or blocked.

Consult the attached diagram for general reference.

The damper switch is the same as the primary interlock (door) switch.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, switches diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Shuts down after 59 sec

Chances are you have a bad damper switch or wiring. A sample photo is here: http://207.234.249.73/mwd/damper.jpg It might also be a problem with the humidity sensor or a problem with the control panel, such as corrupted code or bad connections.
