SOURCE: what is the oil to fuel mix ratio for a 1974

I seem to remember that they were oil injection, and had a tank seperate for oil, but...32:1 will work if it's pre-mix, just jet the carburator to match that and you will be fine.

SOURCE: ENGINE OIL CAPACITY

On the oil filler port is a number with CC after it. This is the crankcase capacity in cc. There are 946cc in one US quart. Do not neglect to fill the filter with oil (but do not overfill) before installing it, and do not consider that amount when filling the crankcase.

Hope this helps,
matt

SOURCE: oil capacity????

aprox 1.1 litres, but depends if filter is changed, and all the oil is drained.
You need to run the bike for a minute before dipping the oil

SOURCE: oil capacity?

Should be 3.5 Liters / quarts with the filter change. Put in 3 liters then top up as needed to get the level to the top of the viewing window.

To check your oil, bike should be level, on it's center stand, engine should NOT be running!

Any oil viscosity between 10w30 and 20w50 will work just fine. Smaller numbers if the weather's cooler and/or you only do short rides. Bigger numbers for hot weather and longer rides.

What oil is recommended for the oil tank in a 1974 yamaha rd250?

The 1974 RD 250 has a two cycle engine. The oil tank is for engine oil injection. You will use a good quality 2 cycle engine oil that is recommended for oil injection. Fill the tank and remember as you drive the level will go down, so keep an eye on it. If the tank runs out of oil you will ruin the engine. Also there is oil in the clutch/transmission case. There should be a site glass or dipstick attached to the filler plug. After you remove it do not screw it in to check the level (make sure the bike is sitting level). This is a different type of oil as well. I hope this helps! Rod
