I can not remember where the wires go on my crf 450 2003 (No Spark)

I took off the loom while i stripped it all down to have the frame anodized and then i siliconed the loom (RED) looks cool but it has lost all its shape ! I'v plugged in all the wires in that match but i'm left with a single wire, It's close to the coil and it has a washer type end connector so i thought it was an earth !! I earthed it but (No Spark) can somebody please enlighten me on where i might be going wrong . I'v got a workshop manual but it is very vague ? Note to myself (Take loads of pics on a digital camera next time) LOL ...

using a meter check your engine to frame ground
your testlight is completing the missing ground wire connection; allowing the spark to jump to ground

The voltage on the coils is present except at the instant of firing. The interruption of the voltage is what causes the coil to fire. The cdi box is what causes the voltage interruption.
The interruption is very hard to detect. You are not the first to be stymied by that box. If you have access to an oscilloscope, I think you can see the pulse if it occurs.

SOURCE: No spark

Check the side stand kill switch if your bike has one. It kills the engine so that you don’t start out with the side stand down. If broken or out of adjustment, it would kill the spark. Check for a broken wire at the side stand switch and coupler. Try moving the kill switch by hand. If that doesn’t work then wire a jumper around the switch to bypass it. Check the fuses. How good is the battery? Try a jump start from your car battery. Is the handlebar kill switch on? Check the operation of the ignition switch and all kill switches with a volt ohmmeter. Install new spark plug.

If that doesn't do it, check the wiring harness. Did a wire come unplugged? Are all wires clean and with solid connections? Any abraded or pinched wires? Is the bike in neutral and the neutral light is lit up? If no neutral light, check the neutral switch and neutral switch wire on center casing. If still no spark, get CDI system and coils checked at the dealers shop. You can screw up a CDI unit checking it yourself.

I have a 2004 honda crf 100 cant get spark but if i hold the wires to the kill switch it shocks me

Sounds like loose wire earthing on the frame/switch itself. Trace the wires back, check that all have No Cracks, Breaks, Etc.
Good Luck with it.

Assuming all wire harnesses are stock and loomed from the factory it sounds like a frayed power wire making contact to your frame somewhere. Chasing wiring is never fun. Start from the headlamp bucket and work through them looking for fray or broken wire loom. Could be a lead touching the frame or ground wire connection somewhere in its path. Sometimes its as easy as within the headlight bucket itself. Goodluck

How do I remove steering wheel ignition wiring loom from a vauxhall vectra b

you need to put key in lock and turn to number 1. then on the wiring plug there is a pin you need to push that out. then the plug will just pull off remember to leave the key in and the burial will come out as well.

Are the frames the same? 05 crf 250r and a 07 crf

No. Honda has a very crafty way of making two different models look like they have parts that will interchange, when - in reality - they are totally different. That goes for not only the major components like frames, but for nearly every part, on nearly every model. Very little in the way of parts interchangeability.

Has intermittent spark at plug when using kickstart.will bumpstart no problem runs and idles fine/plenty of power

battery faulty , charging fault, magneto or generator fault. There may be a short in the loom somewhere causing a drain of current. Spark should be crisp, fat, and strong, strip wiring back to basic ignition only and you may get to the heart of the fault by process of elimination. A manual would give you specific tests to carry out on the various ignition components, that would be a good investment eh?! Hope you solve it soon, kind regards the |Yeti - Hastings
