I have a 2004 lowrider fuel injected and the check engine light comes on and it tries to die, rev it up a couple times and it is fine after that

It has only done this twice when it is close to 60 degrees or lower outside.

I have had similar problems on a car and it was the O2 sensor.

Had this same problem with my wife's 2004 XL1200C. Took it to the dealer and they discovered the batt cable was just a little loose. They tightened it and we've had no problems with that since...that was 2 yrs ago.

SOURCE: check engine come on when rev up

this could be a loose wire (bk/w) goes to the ignition module which is behind the fuse panel

Does it rev up or die when you try to rev it?
If the engine turns over faster, say about 3000 rpm for a couple minutes in response to you pressing on the gas pedal, then the fuel pressure and volume are probably fine. You're looking at the wrong things, in an area that's not causing your problem.

When the engine dies the Check eng light is supposed to come on. You need to do a fault code test on the OBD2 engine control module.

Why won't my car start?

Run diagnostics on the "old car". You can still access possible trouble codes through the key switch, and have 2 digit trouble codes flash out from the check engine light. Beyond that, it is basic diagnostics. Check fuel pressure, check for gas and spark at the cylinders. Test the fuel injection circuit.Test the ignition coil. Test sensors for proper operation. A mechanic with a multi-meter can do a ton of diagnostics. I don't get it, does your mechanic only work on new cars?.

Possably fuel filter needs replacment as fuel is ok on low revs then when it needs more gas it cannot get through quickly enough

My 95 3L Lebaron Dies when the car is stopped. It starts then dies immediately, after many cranks with lots a gas it will run. Only happens when cold.

I'd use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, key on engine off. My info says 48 psi.
How long since over-all tune up?

It sounds as if the idle system is blocked or restricted. If the fueling is injection then you need to get the bike on a diagnostic machine and check the fuel map and the fueling sensors. If it is Carbs- then you need to clean the carbs, the idle jets are very small and block easily over time. I hope this helps. Or you could just keep the revs up along with the front wheel, and save rubber(he he)

Drain your fuel and replace it along with some Sea Foam fuel additive. It has sat for 2 months with the same fuel? carb is probably all gummed up. Clear out your jets with compressed air.
