Question about 2006 Suzuki GSX 1300 R Hayabusa

1 Answer

Won't start I'm in the Military and I've been away for awhile, my bike has been sitting for about 6 months now it won't start. It ran just fine before I left, I bought a new battery and spark plugs, when I press the the start button not a sound, I even tried the spark test according to the owners manual but still nothing. What could be the problem?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, let me run a couple of ideas you may want to try, check, explore or consider based on most bike designs:

  • new battery - does the neutral and/or oil light lit up when key switched to ON;
  • if no, main fuse blown normally 30 Amps, loose battery cable;
  • if yes, is there an audible click when START button press;
  • if no click sound, starter relay faulty;
  • if there is clicking sound, check with voltmeter if +12 is present at big wire going to starter motor while START is pressed;
  • if none, starter relay faulty;
  • if yes, starter motor faulty (stuck up, probably carbon brushes);
  • is Engine RUN switch ON;
  • try with clutch in;
  • exercise side stand;
  • does the bike have an alarm/security/immobilizer.
Pls get back results.

A favor, I would rather that you please do not rate this solution (yet). Due to my current rank and standing, even a Helpful would be detrimental to my rating.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

    Almost forgot, if it is fuel injected, could you feel/hear the fuel pump running?

Fuel gage quit, turn signals canceler quit, fuel pump quit, won't start

With the bike turned off, remove the TSM/TSSM. This is the security module. Make the sure these connections aren't wet. And quit powerwashing your bike!

Lent my 2011 triumph daytona 675r to a friend and he ran the bike out of fuel and now the bike won't start. The bike will turn over fine and sometimes even sputter but won't accually fire up....

it sounds like some dirt has got into the injectors. these will need to be cleaned out. if you can keep trying it and give it some high revs this may run it through. hope this helps.

Hello there! I have a 1979 Harley-Davidson FXEF 1200 that isn't starting. I have replaced the battery and the spark plugs and it still won't start. Once in awhile the pistons get combustion but...

If the bike has been sitting for six months, the fuel that was in the float bowl probably evaporated. When it does this, it leaves behind a gummy substance that is actually the additives that the refineries add to the fuel for various purposes. The problem is that it has probably plugged up the jets in the carb. You need to take the carb off the engine, disassemble it completely, and soak it in professional grade carb cleaner. If you don't have the mechanical knowledge to do this, I'd suggest that you take it to someone that does. If the carb is a stock carb, it's a Keihin butterfly type carb and they can be very finnicky about the float needle setting.

Good Luck

Replaced battery, bike started fine. Let it sit overnight, won't start. Won't even crank, just clicks once then nothing, the Neutral light shuts off and the lights started flickering.

To begin with, I'd have that battery load tested to see if it's any good. I've seen brand new batteries that were bad. It it checks OK, check all the connections that go to the battery. Be especially attentive to the smaller wires that attach to it. I've seen battery acid eat the wire out of the insulation leaving the insulation intact and the wire appeared fine. If the wire bends too easily, be suspect. If the wires have the "crimp on" connectors, make sure they're tight. Your problem sounds like a bad connection somewhere.

Good Luck

My 2002 r6 will shut off while riding? please help.

Start by checking your right hand switch (kill switch) and make sure that it works ok.
Put it in "run" position,start the engine and try to move it sideways without pressing it to "off" position.If necessary remove it and check inside for rust or moisture signs.
